Root [AT&T] Rom install question

Been reading and reading for a while, but can't seem to find a definitive answer. Successfully rooted my ATT S3.
Do I have to wipe my data and settings to install the CM10 ROM?
Can in install it buy booting in recovery mode and installing from SD?

Thanks

you would wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik from within recovery.

then flash/install CM10.

So I do lose everything

Yep. But if you use titanium backup, and backup up the apps you want to put back on, including the apps cache and data, then move that folder over to external sd card, it will be much faster to reinstall one app (titanium backup) and then have TB restore all your files in one shot. Much faster and you will retain all the apps data (i.e. game saves or docs)

Ok, I did it. JB was up and running but I couldn't install TB, said it was already installed ???

Wound up restoring my nandroid backup. I'm sure I did something wrong.
There was no play store app in the rom.

As mentioned above, go into system recovery, hit wipe and restore, clear cache, clear dalvik, flash ROM AND GAPPS files. You must install GAPPS every single time you flash CM10 or AOKP roms. And i believe Oct 11th is the most recent GAPPS. (And if gapps fails to load the first or second time, keep flashing it until it sticks.)

After you do this, you will have play store and be able to use TB and GNow.
