Help Help! I'm being notified and I can't get it to shut up!

Starting yesterday I now am getting a verbal notification of my having received an email (woman's voice, "1 email received"). This is on top of my standard notification and it's really irritating. I turned off the standard notification which didn't get rid of the 'woman.'

Weirdly enough this only happens sometimes-- not with each email received. I don't have any extra email clients downloaded... just the standard android client (which I use) and the gmail app (which I don't). I can't see this message in the android alerts selection and I also have Zedge downloaded but not this woman's voice.

The only addition I've made to my Verizon phone is to install Norton Security. I don't see anything in it that would cause this.

In any event, while I don't mind hearing women's voices, I don't want to hear this one while I'm at work, etc.

Can anyone point me to where this is coming from and eliminate it? Help!!!

If you have not installed many apps you could try factory resetting your phone. It could help but maybe you should wait a while to see if someone elese has solved a similar problem

From the pull down notification, slide all the way to the right. Is Driving Mode bright green? If so, touch it and the voices should go away.

If you're on jelly bean you still have the driving mode option, but it's no longer one of the toggles, go to settings - language and input - text to speech output and see if driving mode is activated within there
