Help Samsung Kies Issue

Hi All,
Now that Jelly Bean is out and ATT finally stepped up to the plate and allowed the update, I've been trying to make Kies work so I can download it. Unfortunately all it has done is make me want to pull out my hair. I cannot get Kies to work. After it installs the upgrade components it freezes then tells me to plug in the USB cable (which is already plugged in). I've tried uninstalling Kies a number of times and reinstalling, but keep having the same issue.
Any suggestions?:confused:
 
Kies is a funny thing, worked once for me then refused to work for months (kept trying & updating as updates were released) Told me my phone wasn't supported.

Then the other night it just worked out of the blue. So I wouldn't rely on Kies unfortunately, it's a pretty crappy bit of software IMO.
 
So I went onto the Samsung Chat Help and was told that I need Windows Media Player 10(for XP) and 11 (for windows 7), .Net Framework 3.5 SP1, DirectX 9c, Adobe Flash Player to get Kies to download the firmware onto my phone. Who comes up with this??? The crazy thing is that I have Windows 7 and WMP 11 won't download for me, that WMP 12 is designed for Windows 7....geesh, now what??? Guess I'll head over to Best Buy and let them do it for me. What a pain.....
