I just got my Sprint Samsung Galaxy s3 on Black Friday! till about a week i got the notification of system update but i keep pushing it to later. I know its the jb update and I keep going into google to see what reviews I see. so many mess ups on that update and some are good. Im debating on to doing it but pleae let me know if you have updated and what you think. Is it a good update or not.
Are there any things not working when you updated?
crashes, force closes?
anything good or bad please.
If i update will the nice drop sound be gone and the ripple water on the screen?
How are the wallpapers with the upgrade?
Does it have a different launcher?

As recomended at XDA any update should be followed by a Factory Reset. Like doing a clean install of Windows. A Factory Reset will clear out left over files from the previous OS that could cause problems.
I updated to JB several weeks back and love it.

Wouldn't that delete all of the data on the phone as well? I had to do that on my tablet as it was having issues. It was a rather tedious process having to reinstall all of my apps and data. If I have to do this after every update, why should I bother updating? Seems a lot of work for not that much gain if your phone is already working well for you.

Your apps are backed up at the Play Store, but you are right, it does wipe everything. The phone will work much better.

I updated my S3 and it just made the phone even better for me. I didn't wipe it either. I did back it up first with MyBackup just in case anything did go wrong but, nothing did.

I'll be your guinea pig. I'm downloading the update on my phone now. When I'm done, I'll come back and give my thumbs up or down.

I would update if you realise you might have to do a factory reset if anything goes wrong. If you cant afford a factory reset then wait the updated version. In all honesty when I installed jb everything was lagging and also s note did not work anymore until the reset.

so I take it nobody has any issues from the update..

No issues. I have a game that was lagging a little bit. After JB, it is smooth. The home page transitions on Nova Prime launcher are also smoother.

Just a few annoying things I have noticed. If you do not set a default app for certain things like a browser, you require 2 taps to launch the app. Before you only require 1 tap. Also, in my Pulse app, for some reason the button to launch the article in a web browser is not there. I have to press the menu button and then press the option to launch the browser. This is annoying in that it now takes me 4 taps instead of 2 taps to launch an article in Pulse in a web browser as I do not have a default browser set.

I finally did it yesterday night. I said what the heck might as well...since I was having issues as far as signal and internet cutting off and on. force closes on some apps. I figured if this helps it good and if it dont oh well. so far so good eveything is the same as far as home and apps. Love it now that I have more bars and internet is working better. I thought by upgrading the home page was going to be different. I thought it was going to be like a side bar to customize but no. so conclusion I did a good job...and I want to THANK everybody for telling me to do it.

Thanks! :thumb:
