Help No Ant+ or functioning BLE 4.0, what else?

maniaque

Newbie
I thought it would be cool (as well as nice to simplify) to consolidate my workout data (HR, Cadence, Mileage, etc.) from multiple bikes and self via an onboard wireless standard such as ant+ (currently using Garmin bike sensors and HRM belt), which of course the S3 provides no such support  .

Okay, fine, switch channels, what other wireless options exist that would allow me to do this, even if it meant obtaining other expensive sensors to make this work... Bluetooth! old semi-reliable Bluetooth! Problem solved... whoops, no, sensors I need are only through friggin BLE v4.0 which is apparently in this phone's chipset but has some bug in the software that makes it unusable, (and has been for a long time from what I can tell).

Given this, I can't find any options with this phone that will allow me to do this.

Anything else I may not be considering? This (and similar applications) would seem to be an obvious use for this contraption.

I'm not sure what apps you are using. Try either Runtastic or Endomondo. Both allow you do monitor all such activities such as biking, swimming, running etc without any additional gear, all with just the stuff in the phone. They do allow use of other connected devices however via Bluetooth if you want to go that route. There are a couple other additional apps similar to those two in the play store if these are not suitable.

Oh and also try Zombies Run! too...

Thanks davidmanvell,
GPS will get me speed/distance (and drain a battery relatively quickly doing this), but won't give me cadence or HR ... it looks like Endomondo can do the HR with the use of a POLAR WEARLINK

The S3 can connect with an ANT+ USB stick, the above apps however do not yet support it. ipBike is reported to be working.
