I am looking for the most recent step by step instructions to become root. Also, am looking for a method with the best recovery software. The methods I have perused have all used the clockworkmod recovery, but if there is a better one, I am interested in that. Much Thanks to All!!

This is the easiest root method for our phones. It works on all versions of Android for the S3, including Jellybean 4.1.1.

It will install Clockwork but you can download GooManager from the Play Store, press the menu button, select Install OpenRecoveryScript, select yes and it should write your new recovery. If you want to confirm, reboot into recovery mode and you should have the latest TWRP.

It's as simple as that.
