Help RAZR HD HDMI Settings

I'm new to these phones but I'm pretty well versed in CB radios...

If you read the package on CB coax cables they all say they are the same too...but it only takes one key of the Mic to figure out you can't run 150 Watts of power through a cheap Barjan coax...the more expensive Wilson coax, with the same specs, works just fine...

I expect HDMI cables ain't much different...its all in the quality of the components used to make the cables.
A CB is an analog signal whereas an HDMI is an all digital signal

Transmission is transmission. Digital is not immune to bad cabling. I don't know what encoding HDMI uses, but the bottom line is that cable still matters in the digital world.

I have noticed one thing that is different about the RAZR HD vs regular RAZR is my old files I had downloaded did play fine on the old RAZR.. I started downloading the bigger files to see if that would also help with the issue and it did. Better quality of videos and they play just like they do on my screen. Even with the old cable from Verizon. The point is that maybe it is just the crap quality of videos. I also called Motorola and they told me it was not a known issue and just took notes on what I was saying. I also called twice just to be sure and both times they told me the same thing. I use the adownloader app to download my movies I also have unlimited data still so keep that in mind. I have found that if you download the 2 GB files in true 1080p that the look great. It was not my cable as previously I thought for some reason on the new RAZR HD you have to download the good quality videos. I have found that if you use the app I listed above and download from a guy who uses the name yify he has good quality and the least amount of gbs to download. I hope this helps. Also verizon did not know about the problem either because I also called them.

videos have been videos watched off of Netflix. the video quality when running ICS has been perfect. as soon as the phone update 2 JB, the quality was horrible. I've tried 2 of the same phone, and 1 regular RAZR. All have responded the same way. so it's clearly an issue with the software.

Could be an issue with some phones. You may want to try to and get a replacement phone or something or see if they can re push the update to you. I had a issue before with an update and it was because something happened while I was updating. I am not sure what you could do to solve the problem. I called Motorola one more time for the 3rd time and they said something that they knew nothing about and said that they would take notes and that was it. They said they can not trouble shoot the HDMI out port remotely that they would need the phone to trouble shoot it. Me personally I haven't had a issue with it playing you tube or Netflix horribly it was just my movies. Maybe they have corrected the problem in my update I just done it like a week ago but I am not having the issue anymore everything is playing great now.

I totally agree, tried two diff cables(one high speed), tried two diff tvs, trie d cache dump, tried bout everything but a new phone, and still grainy and crashes my phone after several minutes. Again, as you stated clearly, I had NONE of these prblms with ICS, and pic was brilliant and could run my phone hooked to the tv with orig cable for hours with NO CRASHES!! Clearly a compat issue with the JB update. We need a fix for this JB update!

My brother just upgraded to the new RAZR HD and his wife upgraded about 3 weeks ago. Her RAZR is having the same issues as some listed above. She never tried the HDMI when on ICS but she is running JB now and she told me she was having the same problems. My brother on the other hand got his phone on Tuesday and had to update his phone to JB when he received it and his phone is running fine. I looked at the build date on hers and the kernel version and date were different than mine and his . I think they may have released to different patches of updates when they were releasing them. Motorola has advised me to contact android development dept. I will contact them and update my findings.

A guy from Moto called me today, and he said they are working on a "patch", however more folks need to call in the issues.

I called back today and even registered on the moto web site. They keep telling me it is not a known issue but that they will take notes. I know of 3 people still having the issue. My still seems to be working fine. I signed up for Netflix and that seems to be playing well also.

On my new Samsung tv anything from phone through hdmi looks like each pixel is too big and shaped like a square so image is made up of visible squares like a jumbotron from 20 years ago.
