Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I believe this won't be a game changer with the Evo. Most people on here that believe this will propel Sprint to a higher level or think that the Evo will put the hurt on the compeition are enthusiasts and of course, we as enthusiasts think the handset that we want/desire can do no wrong and is the best handset out there bar none, much like sports fanatics thinking their team is the best.

I certainly hope I'm wrong and I hope the Evo will lift Sprint to a new stratasphere, but I'm a realist and I always look to the past to predict the future.
I really don't understand why you'd come into the EVO forum and basically call for it's demise before it's even released. You're not even giving it a chance.

It's even easier you just download a floder to your SD and execute Haret.exe from within that folder and it doesn't overwrite your winmo. you boot off the SD card and when you soft reset it goes back to winmo just like you left it.

There is a dual boot cab that is used with this. It will give you a choice of winmo orandroid or you can set it to boot automatically to either they are readily available on xda and ppcgeeks along with tutorials.

STOP, Stop it, Stop the insanity. Your post of all else is making me freakishly annoyingly impatient. If the TP2 is that good, I can only imagine the EVO aarrrggghhh.

I had thoughts that you ceiling must have fallen in again...

If your doing it off a touch pro your not going to get the full effect. It not very stable at all. If your doing it off of a touch pro 2 or a vogue, then it is a lot easier to get the idea of how it works.

Sorry I meant to use the hyphen as a "minus sign"

Here's what I meant to say in correct order of operations

EVO - (minus) [ front cam + 4G + 4.3" screen ] = incredible

Which in comparison makes the Incredible an overpriced hunk of plastic and silicon paperweight that makes phone calls on occasion.

lol, actually the guys came in to redo the ceiling and paint it today so i was out of my desk and in the conference room mostly doing my work . Man, I really have to get into a T-Mobile store soon to try out the TP2 so I can fix this EVO fix of mine. lol

+ more ram + more rom + hdmi out + 720p

I still haven't seen an "official" spec sheet, but the one posted here yesterday on Phandroid.com said it only had 512 MB Ram, and it looks like the screen is downgraded also from what they were saying in the Incredible thread from AMOLED to OLED.

Go EVO 4G!!! :)

thanks you guys for these few posts. I just found out I didnt get a job that I applied for. It came down to me and this other guy in the final round and he won. I'm really bummed out today but still thankful for what I have.

For some reason this forum is keeping my spirits up. And the fact that TS's ceiling fan fell on him - I laughed so hard when I read that I forgot how bummed I was for a second.

Anyways, I'm still gonna be at my current job but we will be moving 40 more miles away. This EVO will be my saving grace on those train rides.

Ooh, okay. Well, I'll check it out.

I've only messed around with a Motorola Droid when it comes to the Android OS. I've read so much about Android before it was even released, but never really had the opportunity to at least try it hands on.

I thought the TP was more stable the TP2? maybe that's just CDMA though.

Not that I know of. I loved my Touch Pro, when it first came out. As time went by, just ran into similar problems and additional problems (that I also had with my Mogul). Then, it got even worse after flashing the new HTC ROM update (which was better, at first).

Just kidding, but in all honesty, I'm very tempted to find a local T-Mobile store just to fiddle around with the HD2 as well!

Thankfully, my lazyness overcomes my slight obsession, but for how long I wonder....

The last thing I'm going to do is calling its demise before its even released. Like I have said, I hope the Evo will do for Sprint what the iphone has done for ATT.

I'm just trying to set some realistic expectations for when it does debut that it won't turn Sprint into the king of the hill, at least not over night. It has nothing to do with bashing. I'm a sprint customer and think their plans are the best bang for your buck, bar none. That being said, I don't want a repeat of the Pre debacle, but of course, HTC is actually making profits.

Don't do it Android 17!!! I made the mistake of playing w/ the HD2 at my local Tmo store & after imagining how the phone would be w/ Android on it made me want the Evo even more. Ughh June feels so far away now.

The Pre mess was more of Sprint hitching their wagon on a horse with a broken leg. Palm in its current state is done and Sprint should have saw that writing on the wall before going balls out with the Pre.

Needless to say though, I think Sprint has a winner on its hands with the EVO and I think, given enough time, Sprint can get itself back into relevant contention with Verizon and AT&T.

ETA looks like June 6 or June 13th, and yes the same screen as the HD2.

Hope this helps.

I don't think this has been discussed yet, but according to this AP article from earlier today, it looks like HTC will be going with a new touchscreen supplier for the EVO:

Synaptics shares fall on market share concerns - Yahoo! Finance

This may be good news in light of findings about the Nexus One's (and I think Desire's) use of a cheaper Synaptics model that has had some issues with more complex multitouch gestures. Who knows, though, the new touch screen from Amtel may not be an upgrade at all... but hey, it probably won't be worse, right? :)

A co-worker buddy of mine got the HD2. It's feels nice. Defiantly have to hold with one hand and do what ever with the other hand. I was trying to one hand navigate and it's really hard to get your thumb across this screen. But I think it's import to get a feel for what your going to buy.

Hehe, I stopped by a T-Mobile store the other day to play with one, but they didn't have it powered up and had that fake display screen on it!

Maybe too many future Evo owners were going in to just play with the phone:p
