Root [ROM] Unlocked Potential Remix 07/19/13

Just got this rom install (the latest version). On every reboot or restart, I get the "android is upgrading....starting applications" It lasts only a few seconds.

I don't remember other roms do that. The android upgrading optimization screen only pops up after you wipe cache/dalvik cache, and after that it won't appear again. is that correct?

So I don't know why it says "android is upgrading. starting applications" every time i reboot my phone. Is this a bug or it's how it is? Anyone else using this rom notices that?

Don't know about Mobster Rom, but always saw that on HD Lite during boot process. I don't see that on this one.

While I use 4EXT for my recovery it's not a very good workaround for kernel flashing, while it attempts smartflash it temporarily copies your bootloader and then attempts to restore it. Check these forums for numerous people that have had epic failures while doing this. While it's correctable the time required would be much better spent just getting s-off. If there was no other way around it then using 4EXT would make sense. As I've posted elsewhere the wire trick doesn't involve shorting anything or voltages of any kind, you are simply taking a pull down resistor low by connecting it to ground. This is a much simpler solution to me than trying to make a working Gold Card like a lot of other HTC phones require.

I'd like to avoid the backup of the boot loader and restore as you've detailed. When I first flashed 4EXT I was S-ON, but now I am S-OFF. So when I was first prompted if I was S-On, I said yes. I've gone back and reflashed 4EXT, but this time I said NO to being S-ON. What confused me though was that it asked me this after confirming that the recovery flash had completed.

How does my answer to the question of being S-ON affect this recovery? It seems to me that it was flased before I was asked, so how does the change take place, or better phrased, what's the implication of asking it after flashing the recovery? How does my answer get "saved" in the recovery if it was flashed before I told it that I wasn't S-OFF?

It'll set a flag before rebooting on whether to enable smart flash because of it's ability to use smart flash for kernel flashing even if s-on.

Hey Mob, I've been using this ROM and it's really great. I was laying down yesterday and I plugged in my headphones and started hearing this really low but really noticeable "buzz" and "clicking" sound. You can hear it only when you plug in your headphones and it starts from the boot animation all the way to youtube videos. Try this out, like just got to the homescreen and just touch the screen, do you hear it? It's not a serious problem but It get's really annoying when I want to listen to stuff. What's weird is that it starts from the boot up. What is causing this? Bad battery?

With the headphones in you hear it?

Have you tried another set of headphones?

I don't have that issue...and I was just listening to Hatsune Miku for about an hour...

the rhythm is good. But they lost me as soon as they started signing..lol

English huh I guess but only a hand full of songs actually sound good in English

This is sung by Luka since Miku's English Version isn't going to be released until Spring or Summer
