Tasker End Call Profile?

While surfing for Tasker profiles, someone suggested a profile to play an alert to signal call end. They were trying to detect a call drop so that they did not continue talking with no one there. I figure the profile involves detecting the call end and then plays an alert tone or vibrates the phone. How do you detect call end? I can't seem to find the context to determine call end. Any suggestions?
 
I'll give that a try. Basically the trigger will be the call end and then it will play a ringtone and vibrate the phone.

If anyone is doing something different or has other suggestions, I'm very open to your feedback...

I don't have it but I'm going to try it. Two reasons:
1 - I have been victim of lost call a few times lately and kept talking.
2 - When talking on a weak connection, when a longer than normal pause occurs, I find myself asking "are you still there?". I could train myself to wait a little longer, but it'd be nice to have a dropout warning. Great idea!
 
I can't take credit for this idea, but I really want to make it work. I've been talking a lot with a long distance friend recently and I've had a lot of one-sided long conversations in silence. Hopefully it will help me call back sooner... ;)

I've had phones in the past that either gave you the minute minder beep, or they would let you pick an alert tone for dropped calls. Both features seem to be drifting away from phones lately...

Finally I've implemented the profile, I just have to call and hang up on my self to see if it's working...
 
Well it worked! I implemented the profile and forgot about it. The first time it went off, I forgot about it and was looking in the notification area for the task/email before I realized what happened. ;)

If I could some how tailor the profile so that it was more specific to dropped calls then it would be awesome. I'll keep looking...

What if you're reading a letter you received to someone. You receive the 45 second beep. The call drops. You could read that letter for 45 seconds before realising the beep hadn't occurred and your call dropped.... and thats if you're counting :)

This profile sounds good to me.

Fairly simple:

Profile: Call End
Event > Phone > Idle

Task
Audio Settings > Alarm Volume > 12 (So I don't blow out my ear drum.)
(I might have to change this to Ringer Volume or Media Volume of Notification Volume)
Media > Play Ringtone > [Pick your favorite Notification]
Alert > Vibrate > [Set this to what you want]

Note: This will go off any time a call ends. I'm still trying to research how to do this only when the call is dropped.
 
Oh right, so this happens at the end of every call at the moment then?

What does the "phone offhook" event do? Have you tested? I'm not sure if a dropped call would class as offhook.

offhook does what the docs say - it fires when the handset is picked from the hook. the opposite of idle.
 
Ah see that's not what it means in the UK. If your phone is "Off the hook", it means people can't call you because it's "Off the hook". i.e, you phone is active but there is no call on the other side.
 
Actually the Profile is testing for when the phone goes idle. It fires every time, but I have not tested a drop call condition (waiting for it to happen.) Since it is checking for when the phone enters an idle condition (line disconnect), it should still notify me when the phone disconnects from the network. I'm going to try just the vibrate function to see if I can notice the diconnect. Maybe the disconnect will be less noisey...

I am really getting back into Tasker! I dropper off for a while to use Motorola SmartActions. However I found it too buggy and causing more issues than it was worth. Since coming back to Tasker, I am more excited and doing more than the last time I used it. I've been spending time searching the web for different ideas to get more out of it. If I see anything else interesting, I will be sure to post it here...
 
I don't know what 45 second beep is referred to... there is no sound when I lose or terminate a call on my phone (Samsung Infuse running 2.3.6).

This simple profile by zoxxo (with help from userloser) fixed that very well. I don't feel a need to discriminate between dropped call and normal call termination... just pick a short unique sound. Being unique.... you'll learn to associate it with end of call. Being short... it won't bother you that it sounds every time a phone call ends. I selected Play Ringtone, Type: Notification..... then if I press the magnifying glass in the "sound" field it allows me to audition the built in notification sounds available for this purpose. fwiw I did 0.5 second vibrate followed by 1 second wait and then the notification tone so the tone shouldn't surprise me.

I have something small and quick that plays when the call drops. Someone suggested just going with a phone vibration to signal the call ending. I might try that to see if I still get the desired effect, but a little more silent... ;)

Glad me and userloser could implement something useful!
