When will this ver be released and will cm10.1 mostly likely be first to release this version as a custom rom

Some people are already reporting receiving an update notification, so I imagine it will be soon. I doubt cm10.1 will be the first, because someone will compile a completely stock but rooted build first, and then developement will go from there.

Personally, I haven't had a notification yet (just checked)

UPDATE: downloaded manually, tried flashing from TWRP, got a status 7

Stock rom, rooted, cwm recovery, supersu, ota rootkeeper. I downloaded the update to my pc and copied it to the N7 internal memory. Booted into cwm recovery, chose to 'install zip from sdcard', 'choose zip from sdcard', '0/', (selected the update), update. After the update finished and I chose to restart and said 'Yes' to disable flashing stock recovery (thus keeping cwm), then said 'Yes' to restoring root. After bootup, and the upgrading android process, I have root and cwm recovery.

I don't think you get the options to disable flashing stock recovery and keeping root if you don't have ota rootkeeper and maybe supersu. Superuser may work the same. The update seems good and fast. I wasn't having any problems before, so I don't know exactly what changed. All in all the manual update worked out well for me.

It should be on cm10.1 within a day or two maybe more maybe less. Its not there yet tho :( not sure what this update is even for

I thought I read an article that it was pushed to aosp this morning...

I just did a sync this afternoon and there were new tags (android-4.2.2_r1) but I can't seem to build for any actual devices...

On top of that, there's no new factory images either

I might be reading it wrong, but it looks like it's failing because there is a problem with the maps system app apk. Did you disable or remove maps &/or Google Now/Search?

The only other thing I can see it failing is that something from the zip is incompatible with what you have on your tab. Are you on stock 4.2.1? Do you have cwm or twrp perm-flashed? Because if you do, that will cause it to fail because it will attempt to patch the stock recovery. To fix this, you have reflash the stock recovery through fastboot, then fastboot boot into cwm or twrp, flash the update, then reflash your recovery.

Edit: I guess I'm off to hunt for a stock rooted rom so I don't have to flash a factory image.

I'm on stock 4.2.1 and twrp is perma-flashed

twrp being perma-flashed is likely the issue. Nexus ota's generally need the stock recovery installed because the script included with it includes a patch of the stock recovery. Use my instructions in my last post and that should get you up an running.

In progress, it's just a hassle

EDIT: After flashing stock recovery and booting the TWRP image, I still get the same error. Gonna flash the system partition

I know the feeling, it is a pain. This is why I often recommend to people who want to stay stock to leave the stock recovery intact, and then temp flash cwm or twrp through rom manager or goomanager whenever they need to do anything. If the phone bricks, then fastboot boot the recovery img file. Saves time in the long run when these ota's come along.

Edit: Now that is odd. You don't by any chance have the tilapia version instead of grouper, do you?

No, I have the grouper version

EDIT: Flashing system seems to have worked. Backed up first though.

Only other thing I can think of is a corrupt download. I really hope you don't have to flash a factory image.

I extracted the system and recovery partitions from the factory image and flashed them. So my data partition is still intact but I'm gonna be setting my device up again
