Is it worth buying a Galaxy S III knowing that...

Well... obviously the S4 will be more than the S3 will be because they are probably going to lower the prices of the S3 just to try to move what devices they still have in the warehouse. This much I know. But, the question is... will the S4 be priced similarly to how the S3 was priced when the S3 came out?

Agreed it's totally up to u, the s4 may be a huge upgrade it may not it all depends Noone knows for sure, it might even look a certain way and u not like it. I wouldn't worry about the future of any phone since there's always something nee that's coming out. Just get what u like when you want and be happy. Unless of course the phone is rumored to come out next month which it isn't

Rumor has it that the S4 will have a quad-core CPU in it. The S3 only has a dual-core CPU.
I have a Galaxy Nexus right now and that only has a dual-core CPU in it and it's starting to show its age in the sense that some of the most mundane tasks seem to make the phone become sluggish.
When I buy this phone I'm going to be obviously locking myself into a two year contract so that means I'm going to be shackled to the phone for that much time. Obviously I wouldn't want to be stuck with a phone that's obsolete and slow some time in the future.
So if the S4 is going to be out soon and you had a choice, which would you choose? Wait for the S4 or grab the S3? I just don't want to be stuck with a paperweight a year from now.

Personally the s3 is plenty fast and should last u well into ur contract, it'll get the latest update from Samsung which will help in making it even faster and smoother. So I'd get the s3 now if given the chance. The s4 is still a ways away and even with a quad core, games don't even take advantage of the dual core that u have now let alone the system. The galaxy nexus was what I used previously and although yes not as smooth as my n4 it sill was fine and didn't slow down or lag, so the s3 I think will be good for u but that's just my opinion

Personally i have a issue with having the fastest greatest phone out so i always find a work around with sprint to get the newest phone as cheap as i can so i would honestly myself just wait for the s4 cause if you get the s3 now by the time you can get a new phone the s4 will be old

Just wait for the S4, and it'll kick major silicone butt for a while, but no matter what you get, it'll only the the latest and greatest for at most a few months, before something better comes along.
Saying that, if your on a budget, get the S3, it'll still do what you 'need' it to do for the next couple of years, just keep in mind that note 3 won't be far behind and that will likely have better specs than the S4, but will be a few more months down the line.
As long as your happy that what you pay for does what you expect / need it to do, it's all good.

rumors are that the s4 will be announced next month, probably released the next internationally. the US will have to wait usually till june till they get it, if it is anything like every other galaxy s release

That will probably be right as the S4 is available in the US. Going from memory the original S was released mid july, the s3 was more of the beginning of july but were somewhat hard to get a hold of, I expect a similar date for the s4

Yes it is rumored to have a quad core, but the S3 was released with a quad core International and the US got dual core, won't know till it hits the US.

Everything I've been seeing points to the fact that even the US version is going to have the quad-core CPU. The only reason why the US didn't get the quad-core CPU with the S3 was the fact that for some reason the quad-core CPU didn't get along with the LTE portion of the phone. That issue has been resolved so there's nothing stopping the S4 from having the quad-core CPU this time around in the US.

Always gotta expect it not to happen tho im really hoping it does it the quad core tho but i mean its not that bad of a deal breaker on it if you think about it is the quad core a most on a PHONE
Maybe, it's hard to say as the specs we have for the S4 are just based on educated guesses, some of which are likely to be correct and others which are in doubt.
Allot was also said about the S3 before it was launched, many of the specs we wanted we never got, that could happen again.

Just a few thoughts here.
1) If you can wait, then I probably would. I will say even the though announcment is probably soon, the S4 in the US probably won't available till sometime between June-August. Although I think that it is diminshing returns at this point the S4 will have better hardware and at the very least the S3 will go down in price.
2) That said we are reaching the point where hardware exceeds what it is used for in most cases. I wouldn't get too hung up on the number of cores a processor has. There are a lot of factors that affect a phones performance. The chip architecture, the amount of RAM, the supporting firmware, etc. Case in point the S3. The international version has a 4 core processor and the US version has a dual core, yet their performance in testing is similar. I would expect that the S4 will test better than the S3 but for day to day use your probably not going to really know the difference.
3) If your Nexus is chugging on things it seemed to do better in the past I would suggest a factory reset might help you out. The hardware hasn't changed but all OS'es benefit from the occassional reinstall.
4) Don't necessarily lock yourself into another contract. There are a lot of prepaid services available that offer the same networks for a fraction of the cost. Yes, you will have to pay full price for the phone itself but the savings on the service cost will often to more than make up for it in the long run.

Man i love my Samsung Galaxy S3 and it is very, very fast. But if you only have to wait a couple of months then i say just wait for the S4 to come out. You are going to be kicking yourself for not waiting if you purchase the S3 now and then the S4 comes out a couple months from now for the same price.

Dude the S4 is going to have a quad core CPU for sure. No way Samsung releases its flagship device with an old CPU.

The international version of the SGSIII already has a quad core Exynos 4412 CPU. I can see the SGSIV coming with the same chip clocked higher.
Back on topic, I would wait. The SGSIII is fabulous but a new flag ship is out soon.
