Root [Verizon] Running Into Some Problems

GreenMan62

Newbie
So I've come across some problems I am unaccustomed to. I rooted my phone awhile back with Odin, but kept everything stock. I finally got a wild hair up my butt and decided to start flashing ROMs. I always backed up everything. Somehow my SD card has become corrupt and when I was trying to restore there was nothing to restore to so I was stuck. I was however lucky enough to be able to root through my SD card and find a ROM in my clockwork mod folder and flashed it. After doing so I kept getting a low memory warning, but thought nothing of it because I knew I had PLENTY of space on my internal storage. When I finally checked I found some strange folders and 14gb being taken up from the "Misc" category. I decided to factory reset my phone, but of course it did so on the current ROM I am running. So is this "Misc" stock phone data? I have never this 14gb block of memory being taken up before. Would I have to unroot and factory reset to get rid of this? And what would that take...flashing stock kernel through Odin? I'm totally lost on what to do, any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe my corrupt SD card came from plugging into my computer while running Ubuntu because my computer started acting screwy and was trying to download drivers. I actually had to end up restarting my computer.

What are some of the files listed under "Misc"?
I pulled up my "Misc" tab and what was listed there, looked like what is on my internal sd card (internal memory)
I don't think factory reset wiped your internal sd card so it seems to me that your "Misc" will stay the same.
Perhaps delete some of the files under "Misc" but not sure if some of those files are needed by your device.

Have you formatted your external sd card?
I used this to format mine via computer:

When I use my file browser the only folder with any significant amount of data being taken up is labeled "0" and I have never seen it before. It is taking up slightly over 9gb. When I open it up none of the folders seem to really have any data being taken up so I'm not sure where this 9gb is coming from. I know that my phone had plenty of memory before rooting and installing ROMs, I just don't know where it came from. Even after factory reset the 14gb misc file was there. So without any apps/data on my phone what so ever there is still 14gb being taken up and my internal memory is full? That makes no sense to me. I just want to return my phone to 100% stock to get rid of it, then I'll reroot and monitor what is going on better this time.

Thank you so much. I've been going through my file browser and everything is messed up. Files that would normally be right there in front when I click enternal memory are now in this "0" file. It looks like there are doubles? I don't know. I'm just going to reset everything and start over. This all happened after plugging my phone into my computer while running Linux. Won't make that mistake again. If you never mad mistakes you'd never learn though :) Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Multiuser? How do you mean?

Android 4.2.1 allows you to set up accounts for different users on your phone. For example I made my daughter an account on my phone with just her apps and the store turned off so she can't buy stuff. Then I just switch back to my account to run my stuff again. In order to do this, it sets up a data folder for every user account you set up on the phone. So instead of heading to the data folder you have the 0 folder then 1 and so forth to separate the users and their data on the phone.

Interesting. When your daughter switches to her account, does the whole setup of the phone change or just the apps. What I mean is, all the sound settings/home screen widgets/icons/etc change too? Or just what is in the app drawer?

The home screens can be different. Honestly haven't played with it a lot as my daughters setup is pretty simple though. Gave me a good scare when I though all my pics were gone though.
