I don't think so.

There are legit accessories that were shown at CTIA and it says it is a draft and images are subject to change.

You're right -- sorry I wasn't clear. I meant that the document seems shoddy and draft-y, and the pictures of the accessories are temporary placeholders.

I think you are safe for 2 years :) LTE is barely going to be deployed at that time so wimax will still be holding its own. further out who knows but 2 years I think we're all safe.
Yeah but LTE will be out summer 2011, out of the box @ 7-12mbps. wimax is only going to push 3-6mbps.

Do you realize what you're saying? My cable internet at HOME downloads at 3 Mb/second. I never have to wait for anything for more than a second. There won't be a phone on the market for at least a few years that will be able to do anything with 7-12 Mb/second of data. Unless you're downloading feature-length HD movies, it's safe to say you won't notice a difference.

I will wait and see how the evo handles streaming video content but I see a huge difference between my work connection 6mbs and my home connection, 24mb even while surfing normal web stuff.

I was looking for an HDMI cable that would work with the EVO, so I started to do some research... I noticed that the HDMI port at the bottom of the EVO looks smaller than the micro-USB port in a pic from Engadget. I went to Canon and looked at the T2i to refer to that camera's confirmed mini-HDMI port... I then went to Amazon just to see what HDMI cables were available. Anyway now I am confused about exactly what type of HDMI port is on the EVO... If you compare the T2i mini-HDMI port to the EVO port the T2i port seems wider... the EVO port might be a new type of HDMI connector "micro-HDMI???"

Anyone know for sure what the HDMI connector spec is?

Note: For reference the micro-USB connector on the T2i and the micro-USB connector on the EVO are the same width.

It's going to be these. 98% sure.
Video Cables - Mini-HDMI/HDMI

Edit:
Ya know it does look like a different sized port.. But HTC wouldn't use a proprietary cable. They are the ones on our side. They like to be consumer friendly and use standard cables. No doubt the phone they release will have a standard mini HDMI.

Can't say that I agree 100%... HTC does appear to be on board with micro-USB (this is great!), but they are also the ones that had a long history of using the extended-USB port such as on the Mogul (PPC-6800)... look at the the pictures again and keep in mind that the micro and mini USB port are the same width... on the EVO the HDMI port is less wide than the micro-USB on the EVO, and on the T2i the mini-HDMI port is clearly wider than the micro-USB port... therefore I conclude that the EVO HDMI port is smaller than existing mini-HDMI ports...

Anyway, thanks to those who are looking into this! :D

Plus...here's my non-techy take on things. Nothing is completely future proof...but if you get an EVO 4G and sign a 2 year contract....you're safe. Nothing is going to blow it's doors off so soon that you feel cheated. Some people have to have the latest and greatest each and every time a phone is released....but my bet is on WiMax to shine and kick butt for the next few years...at the very least. So even if you don't agree with the long term forecasts of WiMax success....you're going to be enjoying a fast connection in the interim. And with the possible software adoption of WiMax2....we may see even faster speeds....but as RiverOfIce and Bill have stated....the phones have to be able to take advantage of the speeds provided by the technology. Otherwise...you can have the fastest provider in the world...but be stuck with a phone....for example like the Incredible....that will only go 3G. No one is talking much about the Incredible not being able to take advantage of LTE or some other technology...so to be fair...the EVO is as capable and much more so with 4G on Sprint. Okay...that's my justification...I'm a duckin and a lurkin! :p

I received a tweet earlier from Sprint saying you can get into your account temporarily from SPRINTs Facebook page.
