Shameless plug now that I'm famous

You'll know you're famous when all those relatives 3 or 4 generations removed, or ones you never knew existed, start showing up unexpectedly.........usually open hand out-palm up, first.

 Trust me, that WON'T be happening as a direct result of my design being used in the book--I mean, I get paid for it and everything, but it's not like a million bucks. (I'm still hoping to win the lottery, though. But there's this weird requirement that you actually BUY a ticket in order to have a chance to win--and I keep forgetting to buy tickets! :D)

Story of my life.

No. But how about trinary/ternary? :D
Amusing that they have t-shirts for that! But I've actually had to do a fair amount of stuff in octal, for reasons that I still don't understand, so...

How about "there are 10 kinds of people who understand octal. Of them, two don't exist and 0 comes first." That mixed metaphor should confuse just about everyone! ;)

My problem is that I buy the tickets on occasion, but I'm too much of a realist to ever check them. I might have some 2nd or 3rd place winners just sitting there for all I know...

Before the situation with my mom became so dire, I was working on filling up my geek shop with clever designs, such as the trinary/ternary one, and had planned to do similar designs for other numbers and other bases. Like I have several for binary, including There are 11 kinds of people... and There are 10 kinds of people..., and wanted to do more, not just for binary but other bases, too. However, I've done absolutely NO work on any of my shops for months now. I'm just too consumed by caring for my dying mom, and dealing with the reality that my mom is dying. :( I can't think clearly enough to work on anything, so it'll just have to wait.

I like that, and will try to knock it off at some point. If/when I do, I'll try to remember to post its link here!

It just dawned on me that if I ever want to have intimate contact with the opposite sex ever again, I'd better resist the urge to buy those shirts!

Sorry about your mom. I don't know which is worse, a sudden shock or a lingering thing. I lost my dad suddenly.

Next week I'm going down to visit my mom and take care of all that stuff that you encouraged me to do. Thanks!!!

See, now that's where I have a distinct advantage as a woman. Men think it's uber cool when women wear designs like that. :D

Although I'm definitely struggling as I see my mom's end nearing, I think that a sudden, unexpected death is, hands down, worse. I mean for the people left behind. For the dying person, I can see pros and cons for both ways of going. With a lingering death, you have time to reflect on your life, time to visit with loved ones, time to wrap up loose ends--but there's the likely pain, suffering, etc. Whereas with a sudden death, boom, it's over and you never know you're dying, but you don't get those 'last chance' things.

You're so welcome. And good for you! I'm really glad to hear that you're on it. I can't overstate the importance of taking care of these things before you're in a crisis situation. And, as my mom's situation drove home, you never know when everything will change. I had no idea that her mental state would profoundly and irrevocably change following her choking incident, but it did. She's now off in a world of her own, and I NEVER saw this coming, because up until the moment she choked she was 100% lucid, plus there's no family history at all of Alzheimer's or any other dementia.

Yeah, show me a woman who can fix her own computer and can powerslide a car, and I'll show you a stalker. :p

My dad died suddenly of a heart attack, which was really tough. My uncle died of COPD, which must have been scary for him, never being able to catch his breath for a very long time. My dad's mom died in her sleep at an old enough age. As long as you've had a full life, a peaceful sudden death seems to be best for everyone.

The hard part was getting my mom on board. She called me an hour ago and was excited telling me about the agenda that she set up! Five years ago I couldn't have forced her to do this.
