Thats cool, I know MetroPCS of all people are going to rollout lte first in California but they are working with limited bandwidths so it won't be near Verizon speed. I wish I could find an LTE rollout map
Well as far as Verizon's deployment, they are doing it in thirds of the country rather than just limited markets, so if your in their coverage map, when they deploy LTE to that third of the country, you'll have it. They aim to cover the entire current coverage map, plus expansion as well

As much as kids may be interested in a phone like the iphone, that doesn't mean their parents are going to buy it for them. There is a growth process to it. Think about it like this.... There was a day when parents were very much against the idea of getting phones for their children. Carriers saw the potential sales and made it easier for parents to make that decision. Then it was texting. Parents said no until carriers made it easier to say yes. Eventually these things became the norm, but there was a growth process that needed to happen first.

I think eventually it will be normal for teenagers to have superphones, but we aren't there yet and phones like the Kins are a part of that growth process.

As a High School teacher, I see what all the kids are bringing in. Not many have iphones, but a few do. I also have a couple kids with droids. I am definitely not in a well-off area, and am often amazed at what these kids parants will buy for them. Many students WANT iphones/smart phones, but not too many are able to convince their parents to purchase them. That being said, I think the Kin phones will do very well.

Yea and from what I understand they will actually have LTE in more coverage areas than where they have 3G now because the towers can cover a larger area and the LTE license covers they entire US

Props to whoever knows where that quote came from, it was in a movie scene and it was completely random and off topic from what was actually going on at the time, so I found it appropriate for all the "off topic" haters.;)

Droid Eris has been discontinued, read (Columbus) $140

I work for Verizon marketing, and I can tell you the following. I have posted before so you know I am real and legit.

As of today, the Droid Eris has been discontinued. It will not ever be upgraded to 2.x. We are now just selling out stock, all new orders from us to them are canceled.

Reason (heres your scoop) on 4/29, we are releasing the HTC Incredible, another Android device even more powerful than the Motorola Droid, at the same Eris price point. We also will eventually release the Nexus One, but testing has revealed issues with the phone and no release date is currently available.

So folks, don't be paying a ton of money for a used Eris. They are going to be worth about 100 dollars in a month. Again, we will not be furnishing any sw upgrades to the Eris as enhancements. The only upgrades would be to fix issues that may arise.

Also, it is true... we have received 3 CDMA iPhones for testing right here in Dublin. What does that mean? Well, we've tested phones that have never made it to market. But this surely is a sign that we are up to something with Apple. I have yet to test one myself, but these 3 phones do exist. And to all the posters who say Apple is exclusive to ATT, I can tell you first had that agreement ends on July 1. Only the iPad is exclusive to Apple beyond that point.

There's your Verizon scoop for the month. Sorry for hiding my contact info, but again... I work there and can be fired for releasing this information.

FWIW

I just came across this as a recent posting my local Craigslist... (I have an RSS feed setup to pass me all posts in Cell Phones with the word Verizon included.) It is just kind of interesting that it popped up there! Only thing that surprised me was the same price point as the Eris! Also, he mentions the iPhone & iPad...

Dublin Ohio is home of a Verizon Wireless corporate center... (270 & 33 for those in Columbus)

Verizon expected to modify its restocking fee policy? (Phone Arena News)

Does that only apply to purchases after the 18th, or all returns from the 18th on? "

This is a direct result of people buying phones to "hold them off" till the one they want comes out then returning it. People doing that piss me off because they are just wasting the companies money and thus requiring them to add a $35 restocking fee that people that legitimately want to exchange a phone now have to pay.

I know there are people doing this for the Incredible (as well as other phones) and it just grinds my gears!

Hmm, not to far from me. I'm tempted to give him a call and pick his brain... and of course inquire about the ad  I just worry he will be a typical CSR/VZW employee and know nothing more than we do.

Well as long as you do it before the new policy then you should be fine. You are only binded to the contract you sign at the time of purchase. Right?

Verizon is bringing this upon themselves...

If Verizon wouldn't hold out till the bitter end on release dates a lot of this could be avoided. I bet Sprint doesn't have people buying phones as much expecting to trade for Evo...cause they have a good idea when it's coming. When someone knows of a phone that's coming out, but really needs one right away they settle on a phone that's not really the one they want,no one really enjoys swapping phones, but with no info what are they to do?

No contact info on the posting and it seems like he works at the corporate center so good luck finding him. lol

Good stuff though!

Very Interesting. And very revealing. True? Why don't you reply to his post and ask him some questions? I am a bit curious about what is more powerful than the Droid but at the same price as the Eris.

I'm one of these people you're talking about, but it wasn't intentional. I stumbled upon information about the Verizon Nexus 1 and Incredible while I was looking for recommended android apps for the Droid I just bought.

So, I'll be returning my Droid, going back to my Voyager for 2 weeks since my 30 days is up this week, then buying the Incredible on the 29th (hopefully).

Next time I won't be in such a rush and will do some research on upcoming phones before I buy.

Nice find highvolts!!

I thought today was gonna be a bust...

I hope it's legit!! :)

As he states on his post, he usually posts monthly news updates on there and if I recall correctly, hes pretty accurate. I'm not sure about the Apple stuff though... Its hard to trust a site that also has a "casual encounters" section for getting the hookup, but we'll see :)

been out lately, miss anything good in the last 48 hours??

Gives me hope knowing that the best buy leak has proven true thus far...we will see about the 29th. I dont know how much longer I can wait....I hate Tmobile

Get over it. I don't do it, never have. You can't blame people for doing something that the company ALLOWS them to do. If the company doesn't like it and it effects their bottom line, then the company can change their policy. If YOU don't like the policy changes you can choose another wireless provider. That's the way it works.

+1

I find that hard to believe. Maybe he is confused and meant the Droid will drop down to the Eris' price.
