Anon, hypothetically if news were to come out today, about what time should we expect it. I need to make sure I've got an internet connection ;)

Highly hypothetically speaking of course, but if it were me, i would make sure i had a 2 litre of coke, a sam's club sized bag of cheetos, and all my torrent downloads finished or canceled (for optimum refreshing of course) for this afternoon. :)

So how is this thing going to be announced? The Microsoft Kin 1 and 2 (and yes I am stilli planning on punching anyone I know that buys it) announcement was planned a week ahead of time. Is it going to be an HTC thing? Are there any events planned?

Who is kidding who though? EVO would (for most) be a preferred device and people here would be raving about the EVO if a Verizon device and making fun of Inc, if a Sprint one. Just the extra 512mb of app space makes it better, not to mention bigger screen so plenty of space for virtual control pad for game emulators and better video viewing :)

Don't be surprised if an update lets you store apps on your memory card (or moviNAND). I wouldn't be surprised if it happened within a year and then the Incredible has MUCH more space, and until then we won't see very many big apps out there anyways so the 512 will suffice.

Also, with that huge LCD screen, I wouldn't count on playing emus on the evo without an extended battery. Also, having to have the controls shown on the screen itself is pathetic. Hopefully there will be invisible directionals you can use for gameboid soon so you can actually use the whole screen for the game.

I was under the impression that 1 gig of the incredibles onboard memory would be allocated for apps, effectively making the Incredible having 1.5 gig of rom...if I am wrong correct me because thats what I have been telling my friends lol On a side note I wonder how many people are going to buy the EVO thinking they have a 4g phone when that service isn't available in there area

The memory needs to be allocated as part of the framework and part of the rom memory. Allocating to the non-rom addresses would be similar to apps2sd and that does not exist in the released framework and may not until the next major update (next year). Android team is trying to reduce fragmentation of the OS, so are working on a major update. We will see another update before that- not the BIG one though.

Short answer is it is very doubtful any is allocated for direct app installation- it would be great if somehow possible, but not likely.

Update:

Afro : I agree that would make sense AND be very good to happen! Built-in, so why not? Let us hope Verizon pushes for this (if not already). This would be a HUGE upside for Inc.- assuming it is built-in, of course and not a microsd.

As far as the virtual pad, HD2 works far better than I thought. Almost like a PSP the way the controls are designed- they do not get in the way of the game screen. Space is nice, but good point about battery.

The Verizon link is HUGE. This is the "document" of proof I mentioned. Very good sign now that 4/29 is at least possible :) I might need to get some A1 sauce.....

Pretty Sweet...
