Quick question...I installed the xmas eve JB update on my razr, did an fdr, everything was ok..just got the newest update, no I get intermittent no sound in calls, fixed with a reboot, and twice today in the middle of typind, the screen and all buttons became unresponsive and had to use the 3 button battery pull and reboot to get the phone operative again. Should I have done an FDR after this update? It wasnt a full OS upgrade, so i didnt think i did, but now i wonder...

Generally speaking, an FDR after any update is a good idea (though it's a PITA).
I had to FDR mine after doing the same update you did. The phone just got wonky after a couple of days on the current update.

Yes you should. It establishes a clean starting point. It givers you the opportunity to finally clean up the junk you have been putting off.

Agreed. It's a royal PITA but a necessary evil. I've been delaying the update (I don't even know what it is - probably JB - I'm not really into this stuff too much anymore) for over a week until I have a big block of time to do the FDR (and also to give myself time to take screenshots of all my apps/phone settings.)

It doesn't really require a lot of time to do a FDR. I did mine and my wife's early on the morning I got the updates.

I helps if you are prepared and download your photos, and contacts ect...
(A couple of hours and I had both phones up and running.)

Turns out the FDR didn't help... did one and starting installing apps and it was going the same thing...only when typing just as before... so u fdr'd again thinking it was an app I just reinstalled and it did it again during setup while putting in my gmail address. so I rebooted and hot through setup, called vzw and told them the situation, and they put me through to tier 2 tech support who sent me a new phone even though I was out of warranty.
