Sleep Mode in (Jellybean 4.1.2) is gone.

I used Sleep Mode a lot but it is now gone. Any way to get it back? How did Sleep Mode differ from Airplane Mode?

What is the difference between Sleep Mode and Airplane Mode?

the purpose of airplane mode is for when you are a passenger on an airplane. It turns off all wireless communications on your phone so it doesn't interfere with the airplanes' communications. But you are still able to have your phone on and play the movies/music/games you have stored on your phone.

It is nothing like sleep mode.

Thanks AVSkillet i was just about to say the same thing although i would of probably been a bit more rude lol
like whats the difference between an apple and a grape? lol

Just to add more info to the subject.
Sleep mode not only disables wireless, and 3G but puts you phone in a "Low state of power" by running only the necessary programs.
Not only that it obviously locks your phone and shuts the screen off to save more power. the screen uses about 30-40% of your battery or more depending on size.

and like AVSkillet said "Airplane mode" just Shuts off the Wifi/3G the phone is still usable.

There is no need to be rude here. I assumed that airplane mode shuts down all communications. This is power saving in itself. I am also aware of what uses the most power from reading the information in Settings. As far as I know, the only app running in the background is the clock. The screen is shut off every time I turn it off.

I was curious how else the phone went into a low power state. I wonder why they eliminated this feature. Like the other user, I was wondering if there was an app for this. For now, I have added an Airplane toggle widget to my main screen to decrease power when not in use.

Doesn't Jelly Bean go into "Sleep Mode" on it's own? When I wake the screen, my Wifi will then connect. Haven't I read that Jelly Bean uses automatic sleep mode?

I ran across an article somewhere that specifies this, but I can't remember it.

It will go into sleep mode if you just do a quick press of the power button. Another quick press will wake it up.

Does it truly go into Sleep Mode when you turn off the screen? If it did that with the previous OS version, what did it need the Sleep More for?

In the past I've had problems with the native music app holding on to the audio, so that it wasn't available when I used things like YouTube after listening to songs earlier. Someone pointed out that going in and out of Sleep Mode would reset the audio. That seemed to work. I don't think simply turning the screen off and on does the same thing.

I didn't think it was a stupid question at all! I totally understand what you were trying to say ...airplane mode turns off all communications thus saving power and the screen IS off when you turn it off that being said doesn't it accomplish the very same thing ??? Anyways i also used sleep mode daily to make it through a 10 hour work day ..I've been using airplane mode since there doesn't seem to be another option on the market to gain the sleep function back and it absolutely DOES makes a difference ... so what if airplane mode still allows u to use the phone!? As long as your NOT using it while in airplane mode you are saving battery ...sometimes these users can be so friggen ignorant ...

With ICS, there was a setting for "Sleep Mode" in which after the preset period of time the device would blank the screen or switch to an application you set in the sleep mode preferences. I would use it to play a video from Netflix on the bedside table at night and after the video ended and ten minutes passed, the tablet would switch to the clock app which would be there if I woke during the night.

This is the sleep mode I think the original question was about.

I miss it.

I did some tests using smart actions vs sleep and found that sleep mode on several occasions still loses about 10% (or more sometimes) of battery life. Smart actions uses much less than 5%

My set up:
Manual on/off

Set mobile Disable
Set GPS off
Set Wi-Fi off
Set Bluetooth off
Set airplane mode on
Adjust background data Only when using app

Most of it is overkill, but it triples my battery life for my work days. Weekend battery life is 12 hours of moderate use, with no power saving. 16 hours of "sleep" time, 20 hours of moderate use with power saving.
