Help My S3 won't connect to my PC properly?

Hey everyone,

This is has been going on for a while now, I don't have any dates so please refer to the thread to root the S3 on dates. Its in Verizon all root section.

Has my issues been ongoing from the time I purchased my S3? No. What was the problem that caused my issues? Well, playing around in recovery and formatted /system, and that screwed up the phone.

What are some issues I'm having? First, hardware ID was missing, so I was reading from doing a Google search, and it said to install Kies on my PC. I did that, and then from doing a few restarts, all of a sudden my phone would automatically restart itself, so I pulled the battery out and now it doesn't restart itself. Also, my phone won't connect to my PC, but in Windows Explorer its showing my phone as a CD H: drive and when clicking on it, it prompts me to insert a CD.

What is the reasons for the delay on reporting this to get it fixed? I'm sorry, but honestly, I have no reasons.

Please move my thread if needed.

Thank you,

Bump:

Sorry for bumping my thread, but does anyone know if my thread will get answered?

Thank you,

Yes, its fine after a battery pull. I must of done something with Kies on my PC, but my phone won't recognized, and in Windows Explorer its showing up as a CD H: drive which its my phone, and when double clicking, it prompts me to insert a CD. I think I got rid of the Hardware ID missing, well, I hope I did, and now it shows as a CD drive.

Yes, its fine. I currently have Samsung drivers on my PC, so to be safe uninstall the ones I have, and install the ones you are providing me, correct? If correct, then in what order should I unistall first Kies, or the drivers first?

No matter...uninstall in any order and then reinstall the drivers from the link.
Then reboot the computer.

Stock. I was going to put the root back on. I have some questions for that, but I wait until my phone is recognized, and before I install those drivers, will you answer my last post?

What do you mean by "put the root back on"?
Did you unroot?

Yes, to the bottom question. I am sorry. Will you accept? I was setting up a new phone because after a while it would act up like trying to close out my browser, but it wouldn't close, and instead I would get one of menus coming or whatever its called. I told you why.

oh, o.k....did not know you unrooted. No worries.
I might just move this back to the regular forums from whence it came.

O.k...moving on :)
Have you uninstalled Kies, drivers etc, then reinstalled the drivers and rebooted your computer yet?

Its a no go. It keeps recognizing my phone as a CD drive and I don't know why?

I swear I should of never formatted the /system because everything was fine before that format.

Pull down your notification bar.....do you see a message "Connected as a media device"?

Edit: how do you mean, format the system.? If you formatted the system, your device would not function.

My thought too- Something is not quite making sense here!

If the phone is fully functional now, maybe try doing a factory reset from inside the settings menu? Or do you have a custom recovery installed/have goofed with the recovery somehow?

Also, maybe try connecting the phone to another PC- I know this might not be possible, but it could be something on the computer side that's causing the issue.

This is exactly what I get:

Hardware id missing
Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the SAMSUNG USB Mobile Composite.

Yes, I just found out by searching its my computer. Its actually my Windows Updates I was reading on XDA.

I looked at what you uploaded to your Dropbox, and the name which is Sprint? I don't have Sprint, so would it be safe to use those drivers?

Edit: I don't have the 710 variant either. I have the SCH-I535 variant.
