Did we just lose our FM tuner?

NKT says no, and I believe NKT as usual.

Edit:

Plus, although people will say that an online user guide would be easy to modify as things change with the device, I seriously doubt that they would have had an entire section dedicated to the FM tuner if it wasn't on the device.

Unless you're running bit torrent or doing some other crazy stuff, I wouldn't be concerned about it.

This is only tethering through WIFI, correct? I have heard that if you tether and use the Verizon network that there is a chance they can find you? I have the $30/month blackberry tethering plan, and I am not terribly impressed with the performance I get. I don't use it very often, but once in a while it comes in handy.

I've never bought a phone w/o a contract before: would I be able to purchase the Asurion insurance despite VZW not subsidizing the device? I assume I would, but one can never be too sure.

Also, if I by through Best Buy, do they offer Asurion coverage or would I be forced to consider their own plans?

Question: What kind of bear is best?

No, but seriously...I am eligible for an upgrade. I'm on a family plan, but not the main line. Does that mean that I don't receive a NE2 discount, just that I'm eligible to upgrade my phone? If so, the thought around here is that the phone will probably be $199 after a possible rebate, correct?

As far as I know, the only way to tell if you're tethering with your phone is by analyzing data usage. The packets coming to and from your phone don't magically change just because you're tethered. It's the same principle as using a router at your home. The ISP doesn't know if you have 1, 2, or 20 devices on the back end. They just see the one address. The router is the one doing the NAT.

I make no endorsements either for or against tethering without paying for it. I'm simply trying to explain how the system works.

You will be able to get the 2 year pricing, but no credits.

question about SD cards - are they generic across all operating systems? Since it appears the incredible won't be shipped with one included, will I be able to remove the 8 GB card that came with my storm 1 and use it in the incredible?

Can someone tell me if sms apps like handcent and chomp will still allow you to choose whether or not to send and reply the message using GV? Or can you only do that with the native message app? Trying to plan what to download ahead of time for my new incredible.

apang, is it true the NE2 credit is basically only available if you purchase through Verizon? Do any premium retailers honor the NE2 credit? I mean, if Verizon direct is my only choice, it won't make me feel so bad about pre-ordering it online since I likely won't get a better price sans the credit. :)

NKT, as usual your info is golden. Thanks! Now all I need is a good third party tethering app......:D

I think one of them did claiming to be someone at Verizon in the Covert Marketing Dept. Other than that, I dont recall seeing anything else from any of them...yet.

My actual words were,

"Alright, you got me.

My name is Lowell McAdam, President and CEO of Verizon Wireless and for the past week I have been working undercover in the covert marketing department of my company."

Link to Post

Clearly it was a play on the Undercover Boss TV show.

I am not, and have never worked for Verizon Wireless. I have though worked at Best Buy, but that was 10 years ago. I currently work as a web designer/developer for an international automobile auction company.

I just got lucky finding that link yesterday, but I'm sure the two people who posted after me must have been VZW plants.

Here is a question or problem we haven't talked or adressed. With the VERY HIGH DEMAND for this phone do you think people will be camping out infront of Verizon Stores or stalking all the websites that will offer the phone. What is everyones battleplan to get this phone in their hands come release day!! I would hate to see anyone who has been on this forum this long not get the phone but it is a possibility :(

I think that "garbage" was the word that could have been otherwise stated - even with the  face thrown in there. Without Steven, Kappy and Wood being MAJOR parts of this thread and keeping it afloat and upbeat, I, for one, wouldn't find it much fun to keep up with page after page. You three guys are awesome in my book!!

Still catching up on last night's posts, but thanks for good words MM. :)

OK...Here's my situation. My wife and I both have Dares, and want to switch to the Incredible when it's out. My wife (primary line) is eligible for an Annual Upgrade (but not NE2) now. On MyVerizon, it's showing that I'm not eligible for upgrade until December:(. I know my wife can upgrade any time, but will I have to wait until December to upgrade without paying full price?

you can always add a line and avoid paying full price....

...And Crutchfield (who I have avoided buying anything from in the past) even gives you all of the install gear for free with your purchase. I was very impressed. And after a month of use, I am also impressed with this stereo. It's good quality and I love the features, especially the bluetooth!

Dual XHD7714 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

I like Crutchfield primarily because their tech support is awesome. They know what they are talking about and are easy to talk to (i.e., they seem to be able to talk to you without obviously constraining themselves to the next line of a check list).
