Root CM10 battery life-how is everyone's?

how's everyone's battery life, mine goes for only about 8 hours with texting/minimum browsing. Is there a better battery life?

By goes... do you mean completely dead?

I find that the life expectancy for a charge on this phone is usually never more than 12 hours... unless you have it in airplane mode.

Have you tried:
Juice Defender
Lux - Keep the phone brightness down to acceptable levels.
Manually creating on/off events for things through an app like Tasker
Manually turning off wifi/gps when they're not needed.

Some of these will do the same things as others.

Invest in an extended battery. My 3800mah battery gets me through the day easily.

Normal usage. Off charger at 0500, take 530 bus to work, ride bus and consistently use phone during the near 2 hour trip. Then phone sleeps while at work. (Can't have phone on me while delivering, company policy). Occasionally in between deliveries I will check for texts, emails, moderate my forum. The ride bus home after a 6-10hr shift. 2 more hours of consistent use. Get home with ~30% remaining, plug in phone and turn on hotspot.

That is with extended battery, when I had stock, it would barely last one bus ride

That is not really a day since you put phone in airplane mode for most part of the day. My extended battery used to last for more than 24 hours (no airplane mode) with moderate use (no gaming) without any battery saving apps but with reducing screen brightness with lux settings. To me, wifi was more battery consuming than 4G. This was when I used TDM's AOKP and CM 10.1 beta.

The battery life is horrible with official CM and worse with PAC.

I didn't say I put phone in airplane. 4G runs all day. What is the point of a cell phone if you put it in airplane mode? Might as well shut it off, lol. that is my opinion fwiw.

All I said was phone sleeps. It does wake lock, and if you read, I do check it throughout the day.

Using AOKP build 6 on quattrimus kernel and don't see abnormal battery drain.

My cm10 build doesn't have the WiFi fix so it's going to drain the battery faster. How much faster depends somewhat on the network. A busy network will drain faster.

DS battery saver helps quite a bit.

CM10.1 has the WiFi fix but some devices seem to drain faster than others. I think it should be about 2%/hour in deep sleep. But some devices like my nitro still drain at about 6%/hour. I don't know why.

Where are you guys getting your extended batteries+case?I hate not having a case.Thanks.Phone goes down to about 15% between 7-8 hours and it seems to drain like mad even when not in use.Where can I get the kernel for the new update.I'll update now in fact

I got mine off amazon for $15 with case. Chinese battery, but still better than stock. And for the kernel, check out tdm's thread on "quattrimus kernel" for jb.

JuiceDefender is pretty awesome....

Just saying...
This.

Except the latest versions of AOKP and CM10 seem to override JD's ability to put the device into airplane mode. Kinda disappointing, because that's a huge battery saver overnight.

I get 5hrs a day with music streaming all day, 8hrs with moderate use and 12hrs with light to moderate.

1. Get Juice Defender.
2. Use these settings:

After a few charging cycles battery life seems to have improved/stabilized.been off charger since 7am with moderate browser and poweamp usage, texting, and a few phone calls..at 20%. Still not as good as cm10 but definitely improved compared to after the first day or two running pacman.

I just had it fully charged about an hour and a half ago.now it's at 75.Didn't do anything but walk through the mall and replied to some texts

My Spec was horrible on Rom batteries. My Spectrum has stock battery and can Netflix for probably an hour on CM10 and Stock. My Droid 4 (1785MAH Non Removable) can Netflix for 3 hours 40 minutes and that's only going from 80% to 16%. I think there was a recall on the battery. Also the LG Lucid 2 has been released ;) ships with JB . Have a great day everyone :)

Sounds like your spec had a problem then.

When I run Netflix on my spec, it doesn't drop more about 10-15% per half hour of video. Obviously screen brightness plays into this a bit and the brighter I have it the closer I am to 15%

I get the exact same drain over night in airplane mode, or letting it sit idle with data and wifi off. Its like airplane mode shuts off the signal, but doesn't tell the phone to quit looking for it. Using AOKP build 6. Seems like I didn't have this issue on the CM10.1 Beta though. When i get unlazy again, i'm gonna re flash the beta and find out.

What is your drain in airplane mode? If it's around 6% per hour maybe we have the same problem. I should test my spectrum also, it's usually off unless I'm devving on it or the kids are playing games.

Its not that substantial, about 2%-4% per hour( about the same as my idle, no wifi or data, drain). Up until AOKP however, the drain was about 1%-3% over 6-8 hours.

I had the same % drain on AOKP42. When I flashed Quattrimus kernel, I never had the issue.

I think it is something with the build 6 kernel.

Like I said, I get good life out of mine. I was streaming on lte most of this time off the charger.

Flashed cm10.1 beta 4... This is what airplane mode should be battery life wise. 1% over 8 hours. Over all the battery life seems better too. I guess I need to test the official cm now.

Can I do the same with the free JD?
