I volume is so low on many of these and the audio book players I've found don't use Replay Gain so I can't easily increase the volume.

Try PowerAmp

Go into the Audio section of the Settings, then look for the Replay Gain

Typed out using SwiftKey, only available for Android ツ :thrasher:

I understand there is no difference between audio and music. I'm using PowerAmp for my tunes. It's nice having a separate app for just books. I don't have to search through all the music to find the book I want to listen to.

PowerAmp supports folders, you can put all of your audio books in one folder if you haven't already, then request PowerAmp to scan for music.

If it doesn't find your music you can add the Folder to the list of folders that PowerAmp scans at your request or automatically.

You can also use the PreAmp in the Equaliser to slide the volume up or down while listening
