Root [AT&T] Help with my GS3 SGH-i747m

itrunner

Lurker
Hey gang, I got an S3 about a week ago and this is my first android device.. i'm that new to all this. i'm a 'geek' so wanted to root it and get the latest 4.2.2 on there.

Here's where i'm at.

I've got my phone rooted, i followed this guide:

How to Root U.S. and Canada Galaxy S3 AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint/US Ceullar! [Fail-Proof][Noob-Proof] | Galaxy S3 Root

I've done a backup from CW Recovery and tried to flash Task650's rom to it, but it fails. I've researched the error it fails with and it points to an old version of CW Recovery (i'm currently running 5.5.0.4)

So now i'm trying to upgrade it to 6.0.3.1 but i cannot for the life of me find the files. i see on their website the ATT .img file, but i cant find the zip / .tar file i'll need to do this.

When i go into ROM MANAGER (i even bought the full version) it says i have no recovery installed, however i do. When i look in the list do to an install i dont see an S3 ATT version, just the MetroPCS verion.

No idea how to proceed to fix this..help :)

weird. i use ROM Manager to always update CWM Recovery.

it should show up as "d2att" within the app.

as for converting IMG files to TAR files. it always seemed like too involved, so i never tried it. :P

You need to have the newest boot loader installed in order to flash tasks aokp (since may.16th)

First, here is a link for the updated cwm for your phone i747m (same as AT&T variant)
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-d2att.img

Just flash it with Odin, after you convert it to a tar
EDIT. Orr here is the already converted version

Next, here is a link for the new bootloader for your phone

Once again, this has to be flashing in Odin. Not cwm.

Next just make sure you have the latest gapps and rom from tasks thread

Cheers :D

I'm loving this rom myself, only thing I changed was the kernel.
