Gmail contact sync - S3

Hello all,

This might be a silly question but, I did some updates to my contacts through Gmail -I.e. I logged in using Internet and updated contacts.

I noticed that even after a few hours, my phone hadn't sync'ed with my contacts. I then had to go into Sync settings and select "sync now", and then it synced.

Calendar updates I make through Google on internet explorer is usually synced pretty quickly, but I noticed for contacts it's not the case.

So the silly question is: does it only sync when I'm connected to Wi-Fi? I wasn't connected to Wi-Fi when the above happened.

I have the "sync and back up" options checked in my S3.

Thank you,

G.

Can you share what is your sync setting like? Is your Sync ON all the time when you pull down the Notification ?
Are your Contacts checked in the Settings - Accounts - Google ?
Normally it will update pretty quickly, give your SYNC is enabled.

Yup, when I pull down the notification bar, the Sync option is highlighted in Green.

When I go into Google account settings, contacts are highlighted too.

I think I just need to be patient because I can see that it does sync even without WiFi.

thanks :)

All seem fine so far. Settings are as they should be. If I'm not wrong, the Sync runs every 10 min or so. Clearly it should be syncing much faster than every few hours.

I would look into another place, the Data Usage under Settings , in your "wireless and networks" section. Open it and go to the Menu button, see if you "Auto Sync Data" is checked.
