Root Removing carrier branded boot animations

rkelsen

Newbie
Hi,

I'd like to remove the carrier branding on a Samsung Galaxy Ace.

There are some files under /system/media called: bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg.

If I delete these files, will the phone still boot? I apologize for the newb-ishness of the question, but I'm new to Android (but not to Linux) and I don't want to "brick" my phone.

TIA.

Those are the boot animation files, you are rooted so you can easily remove them, just make a nandroid backup before trying. If it gives you bootloops then just restore your backup.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of that. It is easy enough to restore something if you have a backup!

Another dumb question: Will the phone always allow booting into recovery?
