Root [Sprint/Cricket] Need help determining correct root method!?!?

Hey guys, I just got the SGSIII from sprint. Love the phone, but hate it, as we wont have 4G LTE until late this year. Otherwise we have WiMaxx 4g, but this phone does not support Wimax. Now I seen the thread on the SIII 4G Lte International, but the numbers didnt match up from what I was seeing posted. My question is, which method and forum thread should I be looking into. I do believe its l710 model? if that sounds right. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me in the correct direction to achieve root. Im sure I can find info on CWM, so I just want to be sure on the root method. Ive been out for a bit, and know how these phones are nowadays, they look the same, but model numbers are different and generation numbers are different, lol. Sorry, but any help would be much coolness.:smokingsomb:

Thank you. Is here any other info I shoukd know abiut the Sprint Galaxy SIII 4G LTE 16gig White phone I should be aware of. From what I've seen, the phones are sweet, but are tricky and very different between models and colors. I cant leave crap alone and have to tweak it. Its like the difference between a stock car and a car with headers, cams, turbo, etc. I want my phone to be as great as it was designed for. Hell, nowadays, phones are just as powerful as my laptop from '05. Lol. Thanks again.

The guy in the video sounds misleading, he says he has CWM installed, but recommends TWRP, lol. But prefers CWM, lol.

Im familiar with CWM, ive used it on all my phones. So should I stick with that or go with YWRP?

Ok, had issues with CWM installing, but got TWRP to install. I can boot onto recovery, but when verifying root with root checker, it says root is not achieved. Any suggestions?

TWRP is the better recovery hands down.

Getting a custom recovery installed is only the first step of gaining root. You need to flash the Superuser files from recovery to give you superuser access.

Load this onto your phone and flash it from recovery

+1
I also keep the TeamEpic Root from recovery on my SD, just in case I lose root for some reason (Don't think that will happen, but what the heck). Also, installing Goo Manager from the Play store will make it super easy to install TWRP or update TWRP if there's an update.

The problem I had with CWM was that once I updated my phone to the 4.1.2 Premium Suite I was unable to root it via Odin + CWM. Every attempt at root claimed success, but upon entering recovery mode I was greeted with the stock recovery.

Seeking alternatives, I followed my above posted video and was able to get TWRP on the first try.

To each their own, but if you're on Sprint and hustled to get the Premium Suite 4.1.2 CWM might not work for you, either.

Much thanks to RXpert83! Your link worked perfectly.

Now, let me explain what happened in the hopes that it'll help others.

Before Root, I had already updated to the newer 4.1.2 with multi window support. I first tried root via Odin with CWM. That worked once, then I got booted into stock recovery. I downloaded Goo and tried TWRP via that, and it claimed to install, but never did, not sure what the issue was. Then I downloaded TWRP and installed via Odin, that worked, and I could easily boot into recovery, but according to root checker, I still had no root, until RXpert83 dropped the link on me. I downloaded and installed, and wallah! Root was achieved.

According to the populace TWRP is way better, so maybe its just me cause Im familiar with CWM, but Im not impressed by TWRP. Still does the same, maybe more, but I like the interface with CWM. In either case, I am running TWRP recovery. No new ROMS as of yet, only because I dont know how to program my own ROM, and the others out there seem to leave out a lot of functions that come with stock ROM that I like. With that said, I am very happy with the S3, this phone is a beast, and almost better than my touch screen PC running win8. I almost got the S4, but according to sprint rep, its the same as S3, only bigger. I can do without the bigger screen, considering I already have trouble using one hand with the S3, lol. Sometimes, bigger isn't better. I guess when I need bigger, Ill just use my Galaxy tab 2 10.1.

So, much thanks to you guys. Ive been out of the game for a bit, so im slowly relearning everything, and I hope to have a custom rom to rule all other roms, lol.

If you're looking for a rom that doesn't leave out any features and has outstanding support, I'd have to recommend TPR (The People's Rom)
