Help Facebook notifications that won't go away

My S3 in the last hour or so has started giving me facebook notifications that won't go away.

The only way to get them off is to disable notifications for Facebook completely but that sort of defeats the object.

Anyone else experiencing this or know how to fix?

Normally they should go away if you swipe them away in the notification bar or dismiss them. Try clearing the data on the app and see if that helps.

Just to clarify, the actual notification also looks different.

Below are two screen shots. The first is just my homescreen where you can see the notification as it would normally look with the notification bar in the "up" position.

The second is with the notification bar "down".

As far as I can tell, the Facebook app itself hasn't updated, and earlier today (and always before on ICS/JB) I was able to swipe to clear or hit the clear button at the bottom, but that has clearly now gone.

If I clear the app data, will I not have to resync all my contacts?

I remember doing this on my HTC Desire HD and it was a ball ache getting everything back the way it was!

Worked it out, and only because its much easier to see on the big screen.

If you click the little X to the right of the second screenshot you get the following options window popping up. Just have to untick for the ongoing notifications.

Not sure why this just started happening tonight though!!

Good to know. I haven't updated my FB app for a while. If I do end up updating it, I'll keep this in mind.
