I am on a Storm 1 as well...and I know you have to have the light hit it just right to see the grid (maybe twice in the 17 months i've had the phone) which is why I made the BGR comment...they were looking for something to nag about the phone and if this is it I am all the happier. No other review shows this or comments. Someone else would have said something by now.


I was going to post the exact same comment with experience with my Storm (and the 4 separate units I have owned). And I'd add that if you are going to be putting a screen protector on the Incredible (DO IT!), it will mitigate the problem even more.


My main concerns are the over-saturation and daylight viewability of the screen. I'd like to see some more photos of it in action outside. My Storm isn't so hot in daylight either and I've gotten by with it, so I'm not sure how this will effect my Incredible usage.
 
So, you are saying that I can sign a 2-year contract on 4/19/2010 and get the Incredible for @199; then on 4/19/2011 I can get an LTE phone for the full price - new user price - the rebate?

On 4/19/2011, will the upgrade be available if I make my phone purchases thru Best Buy?

From everything I've ever experienced....yes.

It has something to do with signing up and accessing your account online (at least that's what they told us). My wife bought her phone is august/september of 08.....June of 09 she was eligible to buy a new phone at the regular renewal price. If she waits until June 10 then she'll get her additional NE2 discount.
Right now, she can buy a Droid or Incredible for $199 and she's been able to do that since last summer.

I honestly don't know anything about buying through Best Buy....I think I may have bought a phone for my wife from circuit city in the past and it didn't really affect anything since the contract is with Verizon...
 
ok you lost me on this one. so lets say i purchase mine from best buy, are they going to have to open the phone install the batt and all or can they just activate it via phone call ?? who will this work i only ask cuz when i had the droid the employes there where just tossing the phone to table no regards what so every and at one point ended up breaking the batt door.

No one should work on your phone. I am referring to the people who had the DEMO units for review. Verizon probably activated those phones before they sent them to the different websites to conduct their reviews.

When you get your phone i'm sure you'll go through all the set up steps yourself.
 
Somewhere in the process it asked about add-on accessories. And there was a link for "what comes in the box" or something like that. It was so slow I did not click it.

I assume a house AC power cord USB based comes with it and that we have to supply our own 16 GB card and our own Car charger.

Does anyone know if that is correct?

Anyone know of a cheap Ebay car charger that is known to really work with the Incredible? I do not want to give verizon $22 dollars each for one.

I use one of these for my Blackberry Storm - it uses the same Micro USB as the DI - I buy from these folks all the time and always get great service - Car Charger For BlackBerry Storm 9530 :)
 
Anyone getting the Incredible through the corporate channel (their employer)? That's the route I'm going and heard rumblings that phones can't be preordered through corporate accounts and you actually have to wait until it's released to order it.

i started too, however i noticed i was getting charged $60 for activation, i spoke to verizon, the lady told me i should just order through the regular new user option and then have fill out to have the discount applied after to save $60, so if you are a new customer to verizon, i'd suggest this route, if not sorry i am not sure any of this helps you ;)

I wear polarized sunglasses so to me it doesn't really matter since I can't see the screen regardless. :)
 
For those who have gotten their upgrade dates moved up, what did you say to the CSR? Did you just ask politely, beg, or threaten to end your service?

I stated I've been a customer since 2001 and am responsible for adding 5 customers to VZW. Two that are on my plan, and family that switched so we can all have m2m free minutes.

I stated that by letting me save $100 by moving my ne2 date, they would get it back since I would then be paying 3 months worth of a $30 data plan I currently have.

I also said that if my wife is impressed with this product, she might bet one. Therefore there is a potential of adding 2 lines with the data plan.

Calling them didn't help, email got the date moved.

I would like to thank all of you pre-ordering online so i can walk into my local VZW corp office and pick one up from stock!
That is actually what I'm banking on! PLEASE PRE ORDER!!!
 
But if you recall egadgets review, they stated their reception was great even though their bars were bouncing all over the place. They stated the software might not be giving the bars an accurate representation of what is actually being received.

Were all of the tests done in New York?
I noticed phonedog's review showed Oakland on the phone...
 
I'm coming from a dumb phone and have turned off texting because I kept getting junk texts. Do I have to pay $5 for texting, or since I have Google Voice, will that be sufficient? i want to begin texting, but don't know if I will use it that often.

Thanks to everyone for all the information on the Incredible here on this thread. I've learned a lot from your posts. I hope I can figure out this phone (I'm a phone technology challenged user) when I get it. But I'm sure I'll be able to find the answers here.


u will probably need to add that feature, but I'd call VZW rep just to make sure....
 
SO here's something I asked late (early?) this morning...

with all the traffic that AF brought for the Incredible...why didn't they get a review unit so they could post a review?

I feel somewhat cheated.....

I had emailed our Verizon corporate account rep. last Thursday and she said that she could place the pre-order for me and that the $100 rebate is applied automatically and that I would receive the phone on the 29th.
 
I just got back from pre-ordering from bestbuy. I was the first one. I have to agree with everyone else saying there will be plenty to go around.

When the phone is laying face up on a table, it is resting on the camera lens ??

Anyone else think this is stupid ?


not stupid at all .... nothing to worry about...your cam lens i actually covered by another layer of glass/plastic ... all you gotta do is wipe that b4 taking a pic.
 
I've read some stories about people getting their NE2 discount moved so that they could upgrade to the Incredible.

How many days, weeks, months was the most change to an eligibility date that people have seen?

I'm eligible for my annual upgrade - have been since November but my NE2 isn't until July but I want the Incredible now and my NE2.

Any suggestions on what to say to the CSR?


My NE2 isn't until August 8. I sent an email to customer service asking them if they could move it up... Got a reply back saying they couldn't move it up, but that he would issue a $50 account credit to my account once the incredible was shipped.... Good enough for me. I'll take what i can get :-)
 
OK, someone here said "go to the site and order it--you're not gonna get an invitation." So I went to the site. :)

My account says I have something on order for ALL FOUR lines in our account! :confused:

So I called. Loooong wait... Finally got the CSR, VERY nice lady, who said "I can see you have an order here, but I can't get into it to see what it is, and the fulfillment date is 5/10." Again, ACK. :eek:

I explained to her all about this Illustrious List and told her I was gonna take a vacation day 4/29 and if I didn't get my Incredible that day I was gonna strip a gear. :(

She got her supervisor and neither of them could pull up the order info--the system is jammed or down: "Maybe there were so many orders, that's why we can't pull it up." Hmm. And we thought we were a small minority of Phanatics... :rolleyes:

So my CSR said "I promise I will track this down and call you back by 2:00 PM. And here is MY direct number." Verizon has always come through for me on everything they've promised, so I am optimistic. :)

I gotta remember: I woke up today. Everything moves/works, and I can remember my name. I have a job, a roof over my head, food to eat, clean running water to drink at the turn of a handle. And the PC works today, bringing me list messages that make me envious and anxious and amused at myself.... So....deep breath.

So has anyone that ordered the Zagg protector (or any screen protector for that matter) got any confirmation of shipping. I'm wondering if there's any protector that I could order and have here waiting when my phone is delivered.
