Help Exfoliating paint problem

Hi there. I had the same issue with the white s3 which I bought on the day of resease in the uk. The paint began to come off after just 7 weeks, however, both Carphone warehouse and Samsung informed me that it's not covered under warranty. Carphone warehouse said as its outside 28 days of purchase that I could not get the phone replaced. I sent a letter to both Samsung uk head office and Samsung uk customer support detailing dates and names of people I'd spoken to et. A lady from exec office called me in less than 24 hours asking me to send me phone to her for a 'fast track' inspection but could not provide me a temporary handset. In the meantime I went night up to Carphone customer services and to mu surprise I managed to get them to agree to replace the phone. I actually got the phone replaced this afternoon so I'm happy again. But why Samsung continue to use cheap materials on such expensive phones I don't know. It pains me to say this, but I'm considering joining team apple as this would never happen on an apple product.
Sorry for the long post and I hope this proves helpful to some of you.

Danny

Are any of you that reporting this issue using the US version of the GS3 or are they all UK?

Now that I had the phone for about 2 months I would say it didn't exfoliate, luckily. It's probably happening to some specific devices, not all of them. Mine is the international one, bought just a few days after the announcement.

I have a Blue 32gb international. It's not actually peeling off but more like gradually losing it's color on areas where you hold your phone...I guess nothing's perfect.

Sorry people, but paint does not just come off "especaily after one month", unless you tried to clean it with some type of CHEMICAL, or your hands came in contacts with a chemical and you handled your phone before washing them with some soap.

I have the pebble blue version. I've had it for 7 days and the paint has peeled off right beside the camera on the face. I haven't dropped it, it's in a case. It even peeled right under the Zagg Invisible screen protector. Waiting to find out if they'll give me another phone. This is ridiculous. Even if it were dropped I would expect a scratch or dent, not for the paint to peel right off of it.

Bah. This is really messed up. The hardware is great but the overall construction of the phone except the glass which is lovely...is rather dissapointing especially for such a hyped up flagship device...
Mine also is starting to peel and has been in a soft case since it was shipped to me. Cosmetic issue but still... iPhone 5 here I come.

I had the same problem with my white gs3 here in the states. Same location and everything. I used an auto paint corrector. Just a universal silver worked perfectly. Nail polish will not work because the pigments are too big. Auto paint corrector is best.

Do you know what the name of the auto paint corrector is? I'm trying to find some on ebay but I can't haha

Same issue here with a s2 skyrocket... Seems like samsung made a wrong design choice on these phones... I'm gonna try to clean this up with the auto paint corrector as suggested..

I have the same problem. I bought mine May or June 2012 as soon as it came out. See how it looks now. I have never dropped the phone and I have not cleaned it with any special chemicals or anything of that sort.

Sorry for the bad quality pic but had no proper phone next to mine to take a pic. It is the international version of the phone bought in Cyprus.

wow that looks terrible....humidity perhaps is the cause since you live on a island??

Well No idea. I handle my phones with so much care and love. I never leave at on the table, beach or anything of this sort. It is either in my pocket or somewhere safe, away from sunlight, water and edged objects.

And ebay has nothing like that. I cannot believe that Samsumg has no replaceable part for it.

It is a silver line at the end of the day and not a space shuttle.

Some of the paint has come off my Pebble blue S3 :(

Sad to see this, I really don't like looking at my phone anymore because of this :/

yeah..im suffering the same problem.. my note 2 just hardly two months old, the silver chrome is starting to peel...for a RM2K phone this unacceptable for this to happen..and now I realised im not the only one...is happening all over the world.

obvious usage of fake chrome/silver lining...

gonna go to the service centre and fight for a replacement...!!!
