could u elaborate? face recognition isnt built into gingerbread... is there an in particular app u r looking to use?

i read some were this phone has the capabilty what is the sensor by the ear peace on this phone

Most phones have the capability, but if the software does not it doesn't make a difference. Like said above, if you have Ginerbread you will not have the feature built in. If you have Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 or later then you have this feature built into the security.
Now I am sure there are apps out there that allow you to have this feature, but I do not know you will have to search the Play Store to find those.

Also Google does wonders these days.

btw, the sensor next to the earpiece on this phone is the sensor that turns the screen on/off when u bring the phone to or away from your ear while in a call.
