Even if indeed doesn't come with lte it will come with hspa and that's pretty fast itself just ask shabby he showed me a speed test using hspa on a phone it was above 20 mbps.

Exactly...lte speeds I've seen in att and verizon have pretty much been on par with tmobile hspa speeds...now if only tmo worked in more places...although the merger will help with that...

Here 's what I think is a good question;

Do you think it's likely at all that IF you had a LTE GSM Metro phone that there'd be a location where you'd want to disable LTE because HSPA data was faster? Would you still be able to make/receive calls?

[EDIT] OR will the phone pick which signal is strongest on it's own?

Yes initially but in thee later stages LTE should be faster 9/10 times and if not it wouldn't even be much of a difference you'd still get good enough HSPA+ speeds

It picks which signal is stronger but stronger doesn't always mean faster

negative. if teh LTE radio is on it will connect to LTE. turn it off to switch to another radio. just like metropcs 4g, dont want to use up your 4g limit? need to disable it to get on 3g

<tap, tap, tap, is this mic on? Metro, your attention please>

Which would be a Hugh Jass FAIL! tilt, drain of the refarming if people stayed on HSPA instead of LTE because it was faster.

<Kicking mic stand off stage> :D

Great question. I was wondering that myself.

Great answers. Thank you.

Its just if the signal gets under I think -100dBm it switches to the next best technology if it has better signal

-100dB on cdma is terrible, but they use adjusted values for LTE, they are posted online somewhere but i havent bothered to look into it (i believe its something as stupi as they just changed the number range)

to put it in comparison -100dB on cdma is about 1 bar of service. so if im walking around with -97db LTE signal then its gunna be terrible and i know i would rather turn it off, save the battery and get a better hspa speed/connection.

of course that's me, im sure there will be plenty of others who would stay on LTE, the majority of customers wouldnt even know how to make it to teh settings page to disable it, let alone actually turning it off.

Boston, vegas, Dallas, Detroit the markets that will see byod first

I thought about that too. :smokingsomb:

It kind of falls in line with my Vegas theory.

On the surface, the stepped start up makes no sense. If they have it why two groups of start dates?

Again, Maybe the first few markets are guinea pigs to see how the new Sim cards work. If there's issues they find out and can troubleshoot much smaller areas than having a major SHTF issue with BYODS all over the country at once.

Just a thought.

I don't know about all of you guys but I'm all built up on the suspense:D

Same here. Waiting to see how all of this plays out. I'm in the NY/NNJ market and I know they should be flipping the switch on the LTE soon here. Having said that TMo's HSPA+ is also about 3 times faster around here than what I'm seeing on Metro's LTE. I'm itching to get the Nexus 4 but I think I'm gonna hold on to my little LG Motion until I see some final details on the Moto X and Nexus 5.

Tmobile LTE as of today

I wonder if their lte will cover as much as metro in Florida?
If you look at the coverage map they have FL pretty well covered with HSPA and then theyre supposed to about match HSPA coverage(220 mill) with LTE thats supposed to cover 200 million by the end of the year

OK I'm a little confused hspa is in place so no need to do anything with lte cause I like how metro lte covers a good part of the state so no need for tmobile to spread their own lte in the state?

Tmobile has the newer and more efficient equipment that's also ready for LTE-Advanced, how they are really rolling out LTE so quickly is that with the 1900MHz refarm they also started using new equipment that had better HSPA and LTE radio and other goodness built in. So most refarmed areas already have LTE installed waiting to be activated. So its not like theyre going out to do LTE only.

The Ericsson AIR solution ensures highly efficient and smooth introduction of GSM, 3G/WCDMA and 4G/LTE technologies. As Ericsson AIR has fewer units and fewer interconnections compared to traditional site solutions, a new standard or a new frequency band can easily be introduced, thus reducing costs for mobile operators.
