Stock Android

Hi all,

I was just wondering if there is anyway that I can make my GS3 perform like it is running "stock Android". I have read that stock android is a lot faster and obviously not full of bloatware that Samsung like to add.
I alrfeady have some apps and processes disables but feel as though there is more that I can do.

I would root my phone but it is still under warranty and I just know that I would be the person that ends up bricking his phone. I may look at the root option when my warranty is up but not at the min.

I appreciate that this may seem like a muddled request, but I'm hoping that someone can help, or at least give me some tips/advice.

Many thanks in advance

If you want to go for AOSP, there are plenty of ROMs available. Yes, they perform much better and you can feel the smoothness. However, it may void the warranty. In theory, in the EU it doesn't, but it's difficult to convince manufacturers, unfortunately.

Once you've rooted your device, you'll need a custom recovery. Then you can head onto the xda forums for your specific model and try some ROMs out.

I'm personally running Slim Bean currently, performs wonderfully and it's buttery smooth.

i also think google is trying to get there nexus project to the s3 so we can get pure android

For the feel of stock android you can use a launcher such as Apex or Nova which don't require any root. This will help to give you that "Stock" feel. Otherwise if you want the whole deal then you are going to have to root. I am running an AOKP rom that is very much like stock and provides a pretty smooth experience.

Well, Nova or Apex will give you a great stock launcher feel with added features, however, the overall smoothness of AOSP is not achievable that way because Samsung firmwares are slow.
