Help All Share Cast gone

fsa317

Lurker
My phone has worked great with my Samsung TV, I could with a single click use the all share cast to show a picture on my TV - recently the cast icon is gone on the phone. The two devices dont seem to "see" each other even though both are on the network. Any ideas?

See if you can add it through Widget or Shortcut menu.
Also check whether it works by manually activating it through:
System Setting - Wireless & Networks - More Settings - Media Share.

I use it literally daily to watch Youtube Playlists, never has a problem with it.

Then you really should know that Allshare Cast is now Allshare Link ;)

Not in here, it isn't a "link", it's still "Cast" within widgets and the Android Settings.

I have up to date app on my international S3:

Also, you do realize that Samsung Link is a totally different service than AllShare Cast, with cloud system and link.samsung.com user gateway, that
so happened to include AllShare like feature as part of its overall, much larger set up.
AllShare Cast is pretty much it's own entity still.

Same app, updated to link, and yes, international version in the UK, unbranded.

Again, totally different app. I know my English is bad but am I not being clear?

AllShareCast comes in widget form, as a shortcut to a Settings. Sam Link is an app on its own with other features. AllShareCast still works fine without getting the Link involved in the process.

So, what is your point? The person asks for AllShareCast, and AllShareCast is still available, while Samsung Link is its own thing.

As i said, Link is the new updated rebranded app. There WAS an app for Allshare Cast, it's now Link.

Might be worth mentioning that you probably need to update it via the Samsung App store and not Google ...

I have tried using AllShare Link to do screen casting, but it doesn't work that way. All it supports is playing videos, photos, and music on the TV that reside on the device. That's most definitely NOT the same thing as screen casting. I have both a Tab 2 10" and a Tab 3 7" and neither of them has AllShare Cast on it. I feel a bit ripped off.

I'm not sure what version of Android you're running but after I updated my original Note 2 to 4.3 I noticed All Share Cast had changed to "Screen Mirroring". Is it possible that this is the reason you can't find the "All Share Cast" icon?

I looked through all settings on the tablet for anything remotely resembling AllShare or Screen Mirroring and found nothing. That said, in the Application Manager under All (apps) there are two services named AllShare ControlShare Device and AllShare FileShare Service. No doubt the FileShare service is what AllShare Play is using and that works fine. But there's no icon or widget with AllShare in its name. Samsung Link had to be installed from Play Store and it does not have a screen casting or mirroring capability.

Oh... I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" and a Tab 3 7" both running Android 4.2.2, neither showing any need to update.
