Help Stop the voices

Newbie
My stock Razr started to announce calls. I have checked all of the settings and everything is set to ring only, but the voices still comes. What am I missing? I need to stop these announcements. Please help!!

I have gone through the accessibility, phone, sound, notifications and everywhere else that readout appears. I am baffled. I did not change any settings or add and apps. This just started to happen 2 days ago. I have done a lot of searching and have checked everywhere. How do I get this to stop?

Do you have action set up in Smart Actions? I have one that when my Car is paired via Bluetooth, then the calls and text are announced. When I am unpaired, the sounds go back to vibrate. Look at the "Drive" action in Smart Actions to see if it is (or any other action) enabled for announcing the call.

Don't have a drive setting in Smart Actions. Don't have bluetooth in m truck. Also checked Car Dock settings for any read out setting. I have also checked all of the installed apps for a read out setting. This really has me baffled as to why this is happening.

When I go to Accessibility I do not have Talkback. I do have "Caller ID Readout" which is set to "Ring Only".
Are you on version 4.1.2 (jelly bean)? If so at the very top inside accessibility should be "talkback" and should be set to off, then at the bottom would be the "caller id readout"

I do have 4.1.2 and I had disabled talkback. i re-installed it and turned it on and went through the fun of trying to get back to settings to shut talkback off. It is now off and I still get my calls announced. Any other thoughts? I hate this.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "reinstalling Talkback", if you were on stock shouldn't it have just been there? I'm just asking to make sure we're clear about what system you are running.

Before doing the heavy handed Factory Data Reset, another idea is to clear your partition cache:

Sorry, I re-enabled Taklback and then disabled it. I have just done the clear partition cache and it did not help. The calls are still announced. I guess I will just learn to live with it. I have many short cut direct dial on my screens and I am not willing to do a Factory Data Reset and have to redo all of that work.

Have the same issue that just started last week out of the blue, tried everything mentioned here to no avail, like you FR quite the hassle but considering as also starting to get crashes on Google search, dolphin and apex launcher... would love to go back to ics!

Hmmm, so without a FDR, the only thing i can think of is an ugly work around. Create a Smart Action based on time, in this case 24hrs a day, then select the action of "announce calls texts" and de-select "calls".

This at least would stop the announcements for calls but now that i think about it I'm not sure if you've had the announcements for texts so not sure if this is just trading one annoyance for another.

Good luck, i know this would drive me crazy!

It is just the calls and not texts. I will try your suggestion and see what happens. I was glad to see that I am not the only one that this is happening to. I hope there is a solution. This is driving me crazy.
