the light one not dark. its hard to find light themes.

You can try it but the one on this rom is light and offers you to change at will a lot of features within the MMS.apk and it says dark theme if unchecked its light as well as theme settings I'm settings depending on the theme it can change the whole color of it
 
In settings, under battery status icon, I can't change how my battery icon looks? It switches back to the solid battery icon after about 5 seconds... Have anyone else had this problem or know what I can do to fix this? :-\... This is something I've never experienced with any Rom!

Yes it's actually a bug I also noticed that the dev is aware of the issue so let's see
 
Can't edit contacts also, foreclosing... I read in earlier post someone else was having this issue also... I'm using slim gapps, should I try regular gapps?

No you are good there's also an issue with contacts you can run slim or regular gapps no difference there.
