Nokia Lumia 521 coming to MetroPCS

EVLeaks released a picture of a Nokia Lumia 521 that is said to be coming out on MetroPCS. I attached a picture of the phone. What are your thoughts?

It appears to me that for some reason, Metro (and I guess T-Mo) are limiting the number of new GSM LTEers based on who is willing to go Top Shelf for a phone. Say they have the LTE speeds appreciably higher than the HSPA+ speeds (which everyone knows are fine), that would be an interesting way to control the numbers of people who can access those speeds.

So far as I can see, not counting BYOD, any new GSM LTE phone is $400 Up.

Of course the $264 question is what will be the case When and IF we get any Mid-range phones like theoretically speaking, a GSM Spirit? Will They be LTE capable? (I'm also noting that NONE of the new coming phones appear to be Mid-rangers.)

According to WPCentral, it comes out tomorrow at $99. Beats almost all Androids at that price range in performance and durability.
 
as someone who has been using a windows phone for teh past 2 days i would consider getting this device. wp is very different, many things i needed an app for on android its just built in. the os optimzation is amazing. my htc arrive has a single core 1ghz, 512MB ram and runs smoother than my sgs3, i would love to use teh samsung ativ s.

if my snapdragon s2 chipset runs smooth on windows 7.8, that device with its 720p screen, 4g, and dual core snapdragon s4 chipset (same one that is in the sgs3/motion/spirit) im willing to bet its amazing.

If you can find it. The lg optimus f3 is 4g lte and also the cheapest phone of the bunch.

The F3 is a low end toy compared to my Spirit.

If Metro thinks I'm going to lay out another $150 And $60 more a year for a much less phone than I have now they're nuts. :rolleyes:

im curious on what exactly makes it low end in your eyes. it has a smaller screen and internal storage

It has the smallEST sceen of any of the Metro GSM smartphones and just 1/3 of the usable storage of the Spirit and the Spirit itself is Already at the LOW range of what onboard memory Should Be. (IMO) That's part of what *I* think of when I think of low end smartphones.

Even if that's not enough, it sure appears to me that METRO sees Both the F3 and L9 as their Entry Level GSM smartphones. (At $99 each for new activates)

I'm just agreeing with our Mothership. ;)

Hm I thought this was a thread on the Nokia, but since it's gone in a different direction here is my 2 cents since I now have the F3 -
It is a hell of a deal similar to what the Motion was. Yes the smaller memory sucks and it should be larger, but it's not a huge issue for me although it may be for some. With a full load of apps and some help from Link2SD (I rooted it within the first hour of ownership), the internal storage is currently well under half full. I'm ok with the screen, it's an improvement from the one on the Motion and I really don't want to be carrying around a huge device anyway. The F3 is close enough in size to the Motion (just a little taller) to still fit in my Blackberry holster with the gel case on (same setup I've been using since the Optimus M).
It's fast and smooth, and has a killer battery (2460mah) that lasts a long time. I get 23M download on LTE at my house and anywhere I have full bars.
So, for $149 I think I did pretty well.

You originally stated that there were NO 4G LTE phones were priced lower than $400......THAT is why I suggested the LG Optimus F3. :D

And come on, EVERYTHING is smaller than your 4.5" screen dude. However, keep in mind the Galaxy Exhibit is the one with the smallest screen size @ 3.8". But you can't allow us to compare your 4G CDMA phone with a 4G GSM phone now right? If we did, the smallest screen size would go to the motion @ 3.5".......BUT..... another thing to keep in mind is that the Iphone 4 DOES have a 3.5" screen size too...... not too many apple fan boy/girls complain about that 3.5" screen too much ;)

A completely true statement of mine at the time it was made. (Which, if you check the post date, you'll see was a week BEFORE the info on the F3 was released.)

Of course I'd "compare" My Usage of the two networks (and devices on on each) Before I'd switch.

My main point all along is there are no mid-tier Metro GSM phones for people who have similar Spirit like CDMA phones now. I wouldn't go to GSM if they let me KEEP my $55 plan if I had to keep either the L9 or F3.

I'm getting 4-6 Mps where I am now. What exactly can I do with 12-15 Mps that I can't do with 4-6 besides wave it around the room and be cool? :rolleyes:

So far as the Iphonies go. Do you really want to contaminate this otherwise logical discussion with that point? Hmm?
