Exactly TS, the Evo is the complete package. Let's run down the list for everyone one more time. I see anxieties getting high....

It comes with an industry leading 4.3" screen. At that the phone is only .5" thick which is comparable to the Nexus One. The screen is fricken awesome, best I've ever laid eyes on.

It has 2 CAMERAS!!! The back is the best a phone can have 8mp and records video at 720p. I don't know if any of you have seen the camera app but it is sickly! I will be tossing my camera and camcorder when i get this. The front camera is great too. If you are video chatting with another EvoLUTIONAL person or you are leaving a vid on someone else's wall its awesome.

What's even better is that you can play these videos right onto your tv via the hdmi output. Thats right not only can you record in great quality but you can transfer it that way too. NO OTHER PHONE DOES THIS!!!

4G. wOw. Best mobile web browsing experience period. Want to go unmobile? That's chill we'll let you hook up 8 OTHER DEVICES to our amazing data 4G network for a low cost of $15!!! Yupp you can have your laptop, skype phone, mp3, desktop, xbox, ps3, wii, and iPhone all on Sprint's 4G network at the same time. That;s how Sprint welcome's you to the now network in 8 different ways. Thanks Mr. Hesse =]

APPS MAN. You have never seen apps work like they will on the Evo. They will be constantly updating at the speed of light, and have abilities no OTHER phone can match. Because their not 4G and thereby not EVOlutional. Kinda sad....

So while we may have to wait a little over another month, you are getting the best device on the market period. Its not going to be like the droid or incredible was, with a better phone coming out in another month. It will be the king for a good 6-8 months, guaranteed.

So i ask you what more do you want with this phone? App market? Check. Multitasking? Check. Removable battery? Check. Additional Memory? Check.

Awesomeness guaranteed.

Hope that made some of you feel better and not so down, I'm always here for you guys!

Jackson

Jackson,

You forgot the most awesomest feature of all on the EVO 4G. This Thang comes with it's very own "KICKSTAND" Heellloooo!...Amaze your friends, show your family, dazzle and be amazed how the EVO 4G leviatates off the table utilizing this rEVOlutionary kickstand:eek:. I can't wait to pimp my EVO 4G on a KickStand..Ahhh that new car smell >O_O<

<light humor>

Well I got little kids. I can prop this up on my desk and show them barney or something. You know when you get this phone you going to show it off, so why not prop it up on a table and show your friends your latest youtube video. Trying to take a pic or video without camera shake pop out the stand. And if you want horizontal home screen just down load the Cyanogen rom showed in the following link.

Hacks & Mods | DroidDog Android Blog

Well it sounds like you have some good uses for it. Don't wanna ever root my phone, don't see a need. Also, if the stand was propped open, the back video camera would be facing down at the table, only the front would work I would think. So yes, it would be nice for video calling (if/when we ever get it)

I think Steve and Apple are getting a little too cocky.. They keep saying that and more people will switch to Android! The Evo and the Incredible are better phones anyway!

SJ has been cocky ever since the first iPod came out. Apple is a terrible company.

Yeah, I'd love a case that covers up the kickstand too. I don't anticipate on using it all that much, and it would make the phone a lot easier to take in and out of pockets... and also without lint, dust, gunk getting stuck in the crevices.

ROFL, Bendisp..You guys posted your concerns with regard the kickstand while quoting SS Jackson. I am sure they will make a case that has a kick stand delete. The Kickstand is part of the removable back case anyway. You can run through Youtube and catch a video. Hence the probablility of "gunk" becoming intrusive is not likely. The kickstand is retractable as well. I am sure storing or retrieving it from your person should be okay as well.
It's been posted "lucky few that go some hands on time with EVO 4G" have been quoted as saying it "Slides in and out of your pocket just fine" I have to agree with you any bigger phone and this would be a concern and we might be carrying a Ipad.<---(sheepish grin)

I believe it is safe to say..Evo is the sweet spot.

Apple to buy ARM for $8 billion? (Phone Arena News)

hope thats not true I see apple doing this to stop HTC because their so scared of them

That would be a pretty douche-bag movie by Apple, even by their standards. I dislike the whole atmosphere Apple seems to put out.

Google just needs to step in between the HTC and Apple lawsuit and basically make Apple back the f*ck down.

Just because Steve Jobs likes to cripple his devices shouldn't give him the right to cripple other devices.

BooYahh...I stand corrected and what a mighty fine picture you presented in my correction :) Then again it is this sort thing that helps keeps us going until EVO drops.. Thank you for the correction

P.S. I swore the kickstand was attached to the back case in a video../bow

Seidio should make a specific new battery door that covers up the kickstand area somehow, for those that don't want the trouble of a kickstand/dirt recepticle.

Maybe it could be inconjunction with the extended life battery which will add to the width. They just need to make the part of the battery that will stick out from the device flush with the amount that the kickstand area sticks out and then have a new back panel with no cut out for the kickstand to release through.

They make battery doors for the Pre already for example.

I noticed their site has a new banner ad for accesories coming soon for the Evo.

You are quite welcome, my friend. We must be on each others' toes, and have the most accurate information available! To this end, my obsession with all things Evo may prove useful. Having a bookmark linking to a google news search for "HTC Evo" over the last 24 hours that one checks dozens of times a day... is not a good sign for one's mental health. But... it keeps me very on-the-ball. PRESS ON, BROTHER!

P.S. I swore the kickstand was attached to the back case in a video../bow

I've noticed that people have been thinking they've seen things (regarding the 4G switch, e.g.) in the videos that weren't there. Easy enough to do, when your heart is beating so fast :(. In any case, here's a video that shows the battery cover being removed (you can't see the hole in the cover, but you can clearly see the kickstand still on the phone when the cover is off):

HTC EVO Hands On [video] (first video, by the way)

And the source for the picture is here. Drool.

One thing mentioned in that article is the fact that the writers wished that the homescreens would allow more than just the standard 4x4 grid of icons. This is also was also mentioned by engadget (HTC EVO 4G vs. HD2 and Desire... fight! -- Engadget)

I hope so too. Even though the EVO shares the same screen resolution as the Nexus One and Incredible, it might be nice to take advantage of the large screen size to fit more icons and text on the screen.

I don't believe that resolution should be an issue, because the much lower resolution (and much smaller sized) screen on the Legend also possesses the same basic icon configuration as all these larger devices.

its becasue its jackson. He is a 16 yr old nerd from our school. He is a virgin and alot of the girls to be honest think he is gay.

Seriously? We're still on this? I think we know the real Supersonical (much props the our favorite Jackson BTW) and I fail to see why anyone cares what this kids' virginity and luck with women has to do with anything of any importance. And why do you care Swanseauknauk? Are you one of those Todds with a flat-billed Ed Hardy hat and a popped-collared polo quoting "Jersey Shore" while you stuff this kid in his locker?? WTF?!?!?!?!?

So I was reading in another thread/section on this site, I believe under the Galaxy S topic and found something that puzzled me. It mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy S has four times the polygon power of Snapdragon. Okay, so I get that polygon's are graphic related, and obviously since the Galaxy S has the Super AMOLED screen; however my question is don't they both have the same "application" processing speed? I thought they both had a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor in them? Can someone please explain without making me feel completely silly LOL, thanks!

Chrissy,
About 70 pages back I posted an interesting article I found that examined the issue you bring up a little more in depth. I know very little more than you do, but I was able to understand some parts of the article.

The obsessions of an electronics freak: Hummingbird vs Snapdragon: the 1 Ghz smartphone showdown
(Scroll down past the annoying iPadCrap video he put on there)

Basically what I learned (which could of course be wrong), was that the Samsung Galaxy has a Samsung built processor in it nick named 'Hummingbird'. It is a 45nm 1GhZ processor that is very similar to the Snapdragon. The difference is that Samsung's custom built processor is touted to work smarter and as a result faster. They also have apparently optimized their graphics processing unit to work better with the central processing unit, creating better team work.

ElectroFreak's Article said:
"Samsung isn’t prepared to throw in the towel. In response to Snapdragon, they hired Intrinsity, a semiconductor company specializing in tweaking processor logic design, to customize the Cortex-A8 in the Hummingbird to perform certain binary functions using significantly less instructions than normal. Samsung estimates that 20% of the Hummingbird's functions are affected, and of those, on average 25-50% less instructions are needed to complete each task. Overall, the processor can perform tasks 5-10% more quickly while handling the same 2 instructions per clock cycle as an unmodified ARM Cortex-A8 processor, and Samsung states it outperforms all other processors on the market (a statement seemingly aimed at Qualcomm)."

Also, from what I understand, the polygon count test that they used to measure the processing speed can sometimes be misleading since it is not a 'real world' application of the phone's central processing power. There is also a big factor depending upon the graphics processor unit and RAM & ROM.
Our friend 'BlueScreen' on these forums might be able to elaborate a little more on processors and processor testing since he works for a computer processor company.

ElectroFreak's conclusion, with a great bit of his own bias:
ElectroFreak's Article said:
The Samsung Galaxy S with a 45 nm Hummingbird beating for a heart looks to be the most powerful ARM SoC available in the near future, however, the 45 nm Snapdragons and the Cortex-A9 TI OMAP 4 series will almost certainly reclaim that title later this year and onwards into 2011. The EVO 4G, while having an impressive set of specifications, still runs a 65 nm chip that is less power efficient and pales in terms of graphics performance when compared to the Galaxy S. If you happen to live under Sprint’s WiMAX umbrella and can’t resist a 4.3-inch screen, the EVO 4G may be a hard opportunity to resist.

Apple to buy ARM for $8 billion? (Phone Arena News)

Seriously. First the iPhone '4G/HD/Same Shit, Different Case' is effing lost, recovered and sold to the media. Then some guy finds a way to run Android on the iPhone: Android ported to iPhone? -- Engadget. What a kick in the mouth. What a bad week for Steve Jobs. And I actually respect the guy a hell of a lot. But MAN...

The lawsuit hasn't really picked up yet, but you know they're scared. They're SCURRED. They're gonna do everything they can to mess with HTC. EVO (and even the Incredible, really) is pwning Apple and the iPhone so bad right now.

WHOAH!!!!

I just put two and tow together...possibly. Android 2.2 is being inrtoduced on the 19th and the Evo has a big mysterious event. Coincidence? Both on a Wednesday night? I don't think soo....

http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/2010/04/evidence_of_and.html

ohh and cary hahaha yess i could see how you get that

Jackson

Even if Android 2.2 gets introduced at the Google I/O, the EVO 4G won't be the first Android to be pre-installed by it. Sprint internal support would have to work with Google and HTC tech support, and you're looking at a late 3Q/early 4Q release. This is just for Froyo btw, and not the actual testing for the device. Pretty weird for other device testers with the EVO, to not test the phone with the actual OS that's coming out to the mass market, don't you think?

As for the NYC event, I'm working on a invite through a couple of connects who owes me favors :o No NDA involved, so whatever I learn, I'm spilling my guts out for this forum.

4G setup news, I'm hearing Kansas City next, followed by NY, then Tampa, but don't quote me on this yet. With a major NYC event, it doesn't make any sense to not flip the switch in NYC. They were supposed to get it in the early 1Q, but with all those high rises, I'm not surprised by the outcome.

Thanks, SP. Good information and can't wait to hear what you have to say after the 12th.

And just a thought abot who gets 4G coverage, it seems that they aren't doing the roll out strictly by market size...I mean Baltimore has it and LA is just now getting it for example. I'm sure they've done a market potential analysis based on current subscribers and future potential ones.

I am a little bitter Cleveland and Cincinnati are getting 4G and Columbus isn't, but I guess I can wait :)

Just found this site and registered. Nice to find others who are looking forward to the EVO. I'm in Cincinnati and hoping to get 4G here sometime this summer. I currently have a Crackberry and hate it. Work pays for it but due to budget cuts I have to ditch it which is a blessing in disguise since the EVO is coming out.

Last night I stopped by a TMob kiosk in the local mall to look at the HTC HD2 just to get an idea of size for the EVO. That screen is HUGE! I couldn't believe how great it looked also. Now I'm seriously considering selling my iPad once I get the EVO since I could see myself doing all my casual web surfing on that beautiful 4.3" screen.

Lol that troll just gave me material for a new video, too bad stupid McAfee has me busy fixing their epic failure.

had an interesting experiece at a tmo store in my local mall... i actually talked to a rep and at the end he was askin me questions about the evo lol...
