Root [Virgin Mobile] [TUTORIAL] CM10.1 on VM GS3

Have you tried installing the app from the playstore and going about updating it that way?

Yes I've done that and its giving me this force close. It asks for root access and it doesn't go through. Idk what to do

Edit: I've tried to reflash the zip and nothing is happening. I didn't wipe anything though I just flashed again. Any ideas

if it says binary is out of date you should have an option to update the binary when it prompts. check in settings. it happens every flash for me, I just install the binary again

also big thanks to shabbypenguin for coming to help us out. sorely lacking in experienced devs here, hackery can only go so far when the fear of brickage is aboot.

Everything Is good now. I forgot I've already rooted so I installed the root zip. And any word on 4G? Because note on every 4G coverage area it shuts off data. So weird

Is anyone else who's running CM10.1 on their VM Galaxy S3 experiencing problems with 3rd party keyboard apps? Mine works perfectly with the stock keyboard, but if I try to use either Swype or Swiftkey I get horrible lag after every few characters input, making it impossible to use. Its as if the whole phone freezes up for 5-15 seconds before I can do anything (continue typing, hit the home button, whatever.

Hi,

I'm on Boost Mobile, and flashed the Test 4 from earlier in this thread, which didn't seem to be able to get out to the internet for me.

I'm happy to try any updates as well as provide any files necessary off of the original image.

I'm not particularly concerned about the camera or things like that (as someone mentioned it did not work for them).

To clarify, I'm not on a sprint phone that's been flashed. This is a boost mobile phone.

If I'm understanding correctly, mdprfsr got this working by messing with APNs. That's sort of where I was a little confused on what to do next.

Anyway, I truly appreciate what you guys do. Thank you very much!

I have been having really bad battery drain on 10.2 recently. Installed BetterBatteryStats last night and charged it overnight, then unplugged it this morning randomly when waking up. In just over 5 hours I lost half of my battery in sleep mode. After looking at the stats, I'm wondering if being unable to receive MMS, but having someone send an MMS to me (which I know someone did yesterday), causes the Messaging app to keep trying to connect and download it?

Here are screenshots of the stats on imgur.

Have you tried changing your MMSC for the two Internet APN'S from sprint to your MMSC for your carrier should fix the mms.
