i used motochopper to root my phone, just root. now im no longer able to get ota updates. does anyone know a fix for this. i've tried unrooting but phone status is still modified. any help would be appreciated.

When rooted, you don't want to take ota updates.

Simply flash the updated stock rooted ROM from recovery.

i cant even find a stock rom for this phone. i would just like to know how to get an OTA in my current situation? is it possible?

There aren't any OTAs right now anyways...so its pointless :D

But you can flash the T999L stock rom and its the same

I know I'm trying to help a friend out who is going to cry if he can't get it to work. If I unroot restore to factory default will that make the phone status official and allow OTA? The phone's only change has been root. Nothing else.

Technically, if you install the stock recovery you can take otas.

That's not the best way to go about it though.

The recovery has never been changed. The phone was just rooted, but otas are no longer allowed. Will the method I stated above work? What way would you recommend?

Unroot the phone first, and then do the stock factory reset in the menu, should put the phone back to full stock.

did have to do factory reset but in a particular order.

first i had to use triangle away then delete busybox from system>xbin then do a full unroot shut phone off boot into recovery and do a factory reset. "status normal"
