Hi Guys,
I have a connect 4g (ZVA model with VV5 flashed onto it.) and since PRL 3035 came out I am having a hard time with 4G LTE. I used to get about 4 Mbps up and 1 Mbps down, but now I can't even get speed test to finish out a test before I get "NETWORK ISSUES". It's consistent. I was on the unlimited plan up until a few days ago (so after the switch) and had issues then as well as now (now on the el cheapo $40 plan. If I'm not hitting true 4G speeds the extra $20 is wasted imho.)

Couple of things: Should I even bother with this phone any more? It's disco'd and out of warranty so anything happens, it's going to the e-waste bin.

Is the HSPA+ that T-mobile/MetroPCS using now worth spending the cash on a entry level phone to get me limping along at somewhat respectable speeds? I've seen them get about 6 down, 2 up in my home town (which is a dead zone, for the most part. 1 bar of signal.)

I appreciate the advice. I am on the fence on going the GSM route since T-mobile is supposed to go LTE sometime later in the year from what I read. That would render whatever phone I would get now kind of a waste of money.

No more CDMA phones will be sold after 2013, and they plan on having it all GSM by 2015 according to a timeline I saw, sooooo, GSM is the way to go.

I am personally planning on getting a Nexus 4 whenever I have the money. In the mean time I need to make the LG Connect 4G work for me. So far I havent ran into much issues with it. Most issues I have run into like call quality stuff, was on MetroPCSs end. I suspect they will make the network more shittier as each month passes to coax us into getting a new GSM type phone.

Yeah, I have a feeling it's because, according to some research I've done here on this forum. My nearest city (Oakland, CA) is supposedly already set up for T-Mobile LTE so I am guessing they are just slowly shutting down the CDMA side (and I believe I was right next to a CDMA tower, probably haven't converted it to GSM yet I am guessing?) In any event, I am with you, Xero, on the Nexus 4. But that is pretty damn pricey. Maybe I can convince a buddy of mine who does app development to sell me last years model or something on the cheap. Hell, at this point I would take a Iphone 4S over what I have.

cdma phones, when trottled, go back to 3g speeds, while GSM phones go back to 2g speeds.

so, if you need your phone today, go CDMA, if you want to be tomibles beta tester, get a GSM phone and wait until 2015 until they have a stable netork

I have a Metro Galaxy S4 and I don't feel like a t-mobile beta tester at all. I have 10 times better reception and network speeds than the rest of my family/ friends with their CDMA Metro phones. Lol there is no comparisson!!!

Yea my phone Admire is in a dying mode but it still works. I am staying with CDMA till 2015. tmobile/metro 4G LTE is lacking badly in rural areas where CDMA signal is strongest at least for now.

Me Too Lol. I like to taunt it on their faces by making them download the speedtest app lmao

At this current moment tmobiles LTE network is more stable than metro

how's tmobile's reception by you? if it's good, go with it, but if you're a person that keeps phones, bear in mind, 2015, metro will allegedly be shutting down the CDMA site around then, so buy your equipment appropriately.

what the guy said before there is no comparison T Mobile network is 10 times better than metros if you can do it go for it... I really miss having T Mobile's network with that f3 but having the galaxy s3 over that is still better

T-Mobile has, arguably, the best signal where I live (Oakland/SF/San Jose, CA) so I'll probably just get a GSM device and milk it well into the next year. My Uncle picked up the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit, and it is actually pretty fast. I'd say at least as good as my Connect 4. I guess I'll wait until I get a nice check and blow the money on that. I really wanted a Nexus 4, but I've been reading up on them and the displays are a problem (too blue). I even asked a buddy of mine who had one and he complained about it. Not sure if it's a bad batch but I also don't want to spend too much on a phone I plan to toss out after a year. The Connect 4G I currently have has a date with a sledge hammer as soon as I can afford to replace it. Hate that phone.

Been thinking of going the GSM route aswell. Now with the Nexus 4 $100 price drop, I just might do it sooner than later. Ha
