"One is fine by me"

I was about to call BS, but then I decided to text to my phone via email. Sure enough, the received text is hyperlinked. When pressed, it opens Google Maps on the phone, with a results list of various banks, restaurants, hotels, etc. within an 18 mile radius. I use Handsent SMS for texts, but the hyperlink shows up in the messaging app that came with my Verizon Galaxy S3.

It has to be something in the text that makes the phone think it's a Maps link. Just like numbers hyperlink and open the phone app. I tried a couple of variations, 'one if by sea', 'one is the loneliest number', two is fine by me', but none were hyperlinked when received. Weird!

Well, I had to jump in and give this a try myself. I almost NEVER, EVER text, but did tonight. :) Unfortunately, nothing happened. :(

I texted my phone from my computer; nothing happened with the message received on the phone. Then I texted from my phone to myself on my phone and, again, nothing happened. The text was exactly as entered--except the initial "O" was replaced with a smiley face.

"One is fine by me" consistently brings me to a sushi joint I can't stand, and "One is good by me" brings me to a hotel downtown.
Weird.

EDIT:
I send it to my wife, and she gets the same links i did. She sends "One is good by me" to me and I get a Thai restaurant near us, "One is fine by me" gets me the same sushi joint.
My wife is currently using an HTC DNA on Verizon, and I'm using a One X+ on AT&T.

Location + random Google business search. Do the people with no results have location disabled?

It doesn't really get less evil than easter eggs in a smartphone OS...but Google is still evil :p

Don't be evil, Google.

I have 4.2.2 and it does nothing.

However, I don't let Google use my location most of the time, have no G+ account, and have Google Now disabled. Who knows whether any of those are relevant.

I'm on ICS (on purpose) and don't do those things either - text didn't work for me.

Which - I'm way ok with! :)

It may be a JB thing. I know it worked for me even with location off and the search app disabled. The messaging app converts it to a hyperlink the moment I hit send.

I used to have ICS on my GS2, but after comparing it to how well the JB does on my phone (both are Touch Wiz), ICS just was rather clunky and the TW interface was a add on, just like downloading a different launcher from Google's play store.
