Pre-Order

Again if you go to Sprint site and look at any of their phones the MIR is in blue text along with the eligibility requirements. If you click on eligibility requirement you will see that in order to get the rebates mail in or instant you need to sign a 2 year contract.

You're off contract price for the Hero will be $429 as stated in previous posts. You can ask the question 100 different ways and you'll still get the same answer. If you don't like the answers you're getting here I suggest you call Sprint directly.

So, hypothetically, those same people could tell us what a wonderful, life changing experience it is to now have a Hero, and they could let us know they're very happy by just posting a blue winking smiley in their post...

Hypothetically they could say it is the first phone that has excited them in at least 5 years...hypothetically of course...

Damn I should have kept my mouth shut. The girl from Best Buy called me this afternoon to tell me I could come pick up my phone this afternoon.

i hate you not hypothetically... ok i guess hypothetically

No need to hate. I opened my big mouth by stating "I thought I couldn't pick up the phone until Friday?" "Oh, hold on a let me check with the manager."

You know she came back with "See you Friday."

I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut and not be so honest.

good things come to those who wait :D

I'm not going to post on Friday night to tell everyone how wonderful my new phone is, and how spectacular the experience is. I will be holed up in the basement connected to the computer, creating ringtones, downloading photos to create backgrounds, and generally just having a super good time. I'll see you all on Monday.

maybe

Yeah, I just called my BB. They said they wouldn't be carrying the Hero for a while. It's a smaller store (honestly? It's as big as any other one I've ever been to.), but I'm calling the "bigger" store tomorrow to ask about pre-ordering.

there are four BBs in my area - i just "happened" to walk into the store that is getting sprint-ized

and they are the only one in hte area to get the hero

and yeah, they said the other BBs would be getting it, but in a while (lines up with what you heard too)

so, check around - are there other BBs in your area? ask the BB you just went to what they recommend...

Yes, I know it comes with 1.5. I'm talking about holding off until it's available with 1.6.

No telling how long thats going to be. Everyone says its snappy enough in its current state. I dont know why you want to delay just for minor enhancements.

Considering I just rebooted my Tour for the 5th time today I don't think I'll be waiting. Now if the HTC HD2 Tour rumors are true that it's coming with Android and to a CDMA carrier and that carrier was confirmed to be Sprint, I would definitely hold off.

Then again I can always use the upgrade from my 2nd line, mom at 73 doesn't really need a smart phone! Oh I'm an evil son.
