Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

something i did when my market links weren't working (idk if it fixed it or i just got lucky but..), i Odin'd back to 1.5 stock, and set up market. My links were working again, then i redid the odin back to notwiz. After that i didnt have the market problem anymore

Thanks I'm about to try that, because even going to R8 does not help. =/
 
Alright, I even went to stock.. Anything I download on my market fails.. I read on an earlier page that I need to clear my cache using a program called android mate, but the problem is.. I downloaded the APK, but I don't have a program that will enable me to open APK's like Astro since I'm out of the market.. any advice please?

First off I would like to thank bh_man for all great work he does to make this phone nothing short from amazing! I flashed my phone about a week ago and I must say that everything has been working great. My only how is for a longer battery. I drained it, refilled and it still seems to last for about 11 hours with moderate use, dim settings, gps and wifi off.

I tried rebooting to see if my phone would sleep properly but I cannot tell. It says usage is mostly from standby. when it sleeps I press menu, green call, home and back.. All do nothing but when I press end call button or lock it will go to the lock page. Is my phone sleeping correctly? Any advice will be helpful.

What did you do to get that good of a battery usage "akkosa"? What I did and I don't know if it works or is right was, after the flash was to run down the battery till it turned off by itself, charge with the phone while its off till full charge, than booted into the phone and opened up a terminal app and made sure to use root'#" and typed this- rm /data/system/batterystats.bin (enter) and then- Reboot (enter). I used It all day and lasted for 6 hours or so and charged it up with the phone off. I'm I doing something wrong here? a step by step guide would be cool if you could spare the time it would be much appreciated.:)

P.S. I noticed after doing a factory reset my phone sleeps like it should now because I would hit the menu key and the button lights would come on with the standard lock screen so anybody having problems with the phone not sleeping correctly I would try a factory reset it helped me. Also the app "autokiller" wouldn't let my phone sleep like it should either.
 
Hey BH_man i was wondering... was it the update the you pulled from the OP that bricked your phone or was it you just messing around with the phone? I have the update but im scared to install it so i dont brick my phone.

he was running tests in his recovery. had nothing to do with this or any rom

these phones are really hard to brick especially if youre just flashing one of the roms BH_MAN has made its pretty hard to do. He bricked his phone testing a new recovery he is working on for everyone. He wouldnt put anything out that would brick a phone.
 
Is there an app that can properly put your phone in sleep mode? If not someone should make it. And is there a link to a battery fix rundown, any lead would be very helpful.

I saw others have had problems and that you pulled it. I've been using it for a full day no and I figured I would give you a quick update on things. Maybe it will help when you can work on things again or maybe it will help others in some way.

So far for the most part things seem to be working well. I haven't had many FC's. Maybe one or two at most when I was installing a bunch of things from the market at once. Data works fine. GPS seems to get a lock a lot quicker than the previous version. Dialer is a little laggy, but I haven't had it FC on a call or when testing things like the speakerphone. Proximity sensor doesn't work. With the last version the proximity sensor didn't work either at first but after a few days of using the rom I noticed it was working fine; no clue why though. With the last rom using the Mms.apk instead of the TwMms.apk I was able to send pictures, but with this version I have not been able to so far still working on trying to possibly fix that. I don't use the android data plan from T-Mo so I have to combine the internet2 APN with the default MMSC to get picture messaging to work in the past but so far no luck. When using 1.5 with each rom I tried I would have to try a couple different version for the default mms.apk to get mms to work. Sms has always worked fine. I don't know if there are any other versions of the 1.6 mms.apk or even if it would help. If anyone knows of any more out there please point me in that direction. So far batter life seems good but I haven't calibrated my battery fully yet so I can't really be sure yet.
Other than that the rom seems to be working great. No other bugs to report to far. No sleep bug either.

This ROM works awesome on my phone. My phone sleeps, sends/receives pic messages, proximity sensor working, working market, my only bug is that the send to button in the camera screen doesnt work. I was going to re-odin as BH_MAN had suggested, but now that he's pulled it, i'm hesitant to re-odin because i dont want the bugs reported by others to suddenly pop up on my phone too. I learned long ago not to fix something that isnt broken, and this ROM is FAR from broken. any thoughts, suggestions?

Did you replace the TwizMms.apk with the Mms.apk? If you did then the send button in the camera won't work...so really you wouldn't have any bugs at all. ;)

hmmm, quite the conundrum....is there no workaround to this...actually what i would rather do is adb pull the handcent app, rename it to TwMms and push it back to make handcent my only message app. i did it once already, but was unable to send/receive pic messages, but sms worked fine. anyone know of how i may be able to remedy that problem?

Did you do anything special to get picture messages to send or to get the proximity sensor to work. I can live with out the prox sensor since I don't make a ton of phone calls, but I would like to be able to picture message. Are you on T-Mo US? If so do you use the android data plan? I don't which I think is part of my problem. When I was using my Samsung Omnia and finally signed up for internet I told them I had a non-smartphone that could use data and signed up for the $10 plan since I already had unlimited messaging. My Omnia doesn't get T-mobile 3g so I didn't really want to pay $24 for a plan I couldn't fully use. When I got my BH2 off ebay I figured I would try the APN and it works just fine so I never changed it. Using different 1.5 roms I would have to install 2 or 3 versions of the default mms.apk to find one that would work with the default MMSC and internet2.voicestream.com APN combined into one APN. So far no luck on this version of 1.6. The last version worked. I should have left mine alone too.
 
HELP PLEASE. I removed the TwMms.apk and replaced it with the Mms.apk (yes i renamed it) and everything seemed to install correctly I have the different messaging app and I can recieve texts but every time I try to send a text it cant send. SOMEONE please HELP.
Any suggestions?

I went into options and found that my message centre is not set. How do I fix this??

EDIT: Called T-mo and got it taken care of. Thanks
 
I'm on TWIX but still getting FC's on Phoneapp, gppas, dialer, google voice. Recommendations? I know that this was exactly what TWIX what meant to fix from TWIZ

All you have to do is find the messaging center number. I googled T-Mo's and found it within 30 seconds. Without it you will recieve sms but will not be able to send them. As far as mms mine wouldn't work at first but now after a day and a half on the rom it is working. Seems like it just takes a little longer to send than the 1.5 mms.apk did and the envelope next to the message with the little red clock on it that usually goes away once a message sends stays for whatever reason. To be honest mms may have been working from the start but I would delete the thread thinking my picture didn't send due to the envelope not disappearing. I was testing things by sending a pic to me and got distracted by something so I didn't delete the thread. When I came back to my phone I had recieved the pic. So to make sure I sent one to my girlfriend and sure enough she got it.

well I never had any of those error's.... I guess I broke more than I fixed in Twix trying to come up with a solution for everyone...

But truth be told I never had any issue from twix build..
I'll Have another Phone shortly so I'll be getting Back working asap.
