Yeah....that and the Htc Desire...they havent gotten Root on that yet though...
I have a huge amount of Exploits and Methods from the Eris as well....
That was a ridiculously hard phone to Root...
Can someone please explaun to me what rooting is? Maybe a website? Is it like jailbreaking?

I love the way you put that.I'd say:
Rooting = you can do whatever you want with a (more or less) open system. It's like turning on developer mode to give yourself unlimited lives in a game.
Jailbreaking = you can do whatever you want with a 100% closed system. It's like plugging in a Game Genie.
Thus the different names![]()

Ok, I kinda understand. So I guess my next question is, How can I benefit from rooting my phone? With my iPod Touch all I did was install Installous and try out different apps. I don't develop software, so I don't know if that is something I would need.
All I would like to do with the phone is use Google Voice, and teather it to my laptop.
I have ran WinMo phones with cooked rooms for 4 years now and never had a problem. If you pay attention to what the people in xda tell you, then you won't brick your phone, and as far as verizon, they will never know. Thing is you will get no support (but thats ok, because your support is now xda!)
Another benefit of cooked roms on android is that it allows you to store apps on SD. Along with mobile wifi hotspot, etc.
Hey Acidbath hopefully rooting will go smoother for the incredible than for the eris. I know you guys over at xda took a lot of crap while working on root for the eris. Also I posted the extracted rom over the xda to save some people some time from extracting the rom from the ruu.
Cheers on that and good to see you around!
Does rooting for the purpose of tethering somehow mask the data stream going over the network? Seems like it would be quite simple to aggregate average smartphone data usage and pick who is tethering illegally and terminate their accounts.
