GT, did you have to replace a lib maybe to turn on the crt screen animation? I have been trying to flash the crt screen animation zip on PGs CM10, but every time it throws my spirit into a bootloop where it sticks on the cm boot animation.

I removed the default keyboard with root uninstaller and then I installed Google Keyboard from the market, just because the one on the market has the option to uncheck the block offensive words option and the words or predictions do show up on it just fine!
 
GT quick question, not to nag or anything but how come with this Rom and I think on katana too I noticed you changed the 4G & 1X fonts for the status bar but left that God awful EV symbol for 3G? Just wondering..

Tried this ROM again after getting tired of the inability to update the gmail app with Katana, I'm experience the same problem as before, battery drain with Samurai is markedly worse and this is with the same OC kernel at 1.67. This is from a fresh install without any prior apps or anything else restored. Is my Spirit just finicky with this ROM or am I not the only one? I think I may just hop back to Katana, I really would love to be able to use the updated gmail app but so far that is the only improvement in my experience with this ROM.

sounds like your phone doesn't like custom ROMs. I haven't experienced any of those issues with GT's stuff.
 
I doubt it is just that "my phone doesn't like custom ROMs" when it has been (mostly) issue-free with Katana for months.

May I ask if you can update the Android keyboard or the Gmail app? Because that is my main issue that I went to Samurai, hoping to fix.
 
I always tell people that when custom roms are not letting them enjoy their phones, they should stick with the stock rom which works just fine. If perfection is what you're looking for, you're not gonna get it with any of the custom roms for this phone.
 
I don't over clock, nor did I flash any of the oc'd kernals.

And GT, I wasn't bitching I was just making a statement sir. No offense my dude, you keep doing what you do sir. It is greatly appreciated on my end buddy.
 
I uninstalled the toucher app which was the cause of faster battery drain for me since that app always runs in the background to keep the feeds updated. The only thing that can cause faster battery drain on any stock based roms is any one of the apps or widgets installed. I love the toucher app, but my battery drained too fast with it installed so it had to go lol. Anyways, I suggest you guys check your apps and widgets if battery is an issue.
 
I just froze it with TiBU, I'll uninstall it and see if that helps. And I do use a few active widgets BW super clock, BW weather forecast and MLB at bat scoreboard, but nothing more than I was using on stock or katana. Did you use any of those oc'd kernals when you built samurai, or is the stock/samurai kernal set oc'd to boot?
 
Hey guys, I know that every phone it's not build the same, so here is my experience with Samurai ROM. I've read some talking about the battery life and on my end I think it's great, I'm a super heavy user, I use my phone all day long more than my computers or tablet and I get at least 4 hours of heavy use every 25% and that's great for me. I do have mine overclocked at the max 1742MHz must of the time, I use Antutu CPU and I have a profile setup for different situations and so far so good. Here is a pics of my morning usage.

I'm also a pretty heavy user, another sad thing at my job I've got really bad reception (I work in a kitchen) so I know at work my battery life is just straight garbage. I mean like having to charge it twice within a 8 hour period, and that's with minimal use at work.
 
I've kept Samurai on my phone since yesterday. I didn't disable the Toucher but I had wondered if it might have been dragging it any. At any rate, since yesterday it seems that Samurai, flashed as-is, drains more than Katana while in use. When the screen is off and the thing is set on my desk, in a pocket, etc. it is not killing itself any more than usual and can last a good long while. But doing simple things, I can literally watch the battery numbers tick down. I will try uninstalling the Toucher and see if that helps lighten the load.
 
Samurai rom is using Katana rom as base. Only differences are color scheme and apps installed.

Katana is using team Blackout apps and Samurai is using stock google apps along with toucher app. If both roms had the same apps installed, battery drain would be identical since they're basically the same rom aside from colors and apps.

I'm still rocking Katana v3. And have bad battery drain. However I figured out what my issue is. Battery isn't as good as it once was LoL. Bought a new battery and getting awesome battery life. :). There's a tip in there somewhere. :cool::D
 
I noticed the link for the stock inverted gallery with aosp icon was down, so I uploaded it again in case anyone needs it.

Remove your current gallery then flash this zip in recovery....

Side note:
I noticed dev host sucks. Over time files start to disappear and links break even on a paid account. I guess in time I'll have to move everything back to google drive.
