Case or no case

I'm awaiting my Moto X from Ting and wondering what kind of accessories I should buy.

Is it sturdy enough to withstand the occasional drop on the floor (and if so, what kind of floor)? My floors are mostly carpeted, with the kitchen and dining room vinyl.

Also, any other runners here? If you take your phone running in the rain, do you use some kind of water-resistant armband or do you trust to the water-resistant coating the internals are said to have been treated with?

Thanks,

-Jay

My phone always is in my pocket when I run, and is always in a ziploc bag, rain or shine. The phone internals may be fine, but any sort of condensation (from evaporate perspiration that condenses, for example) can cause the contacts in the USB port and the headphone jack to fail, just as one example.

I don't always seal the bag, but if it rains I do. If I am listening to something I close the seal just to the point of the headphone cord.

(I have a Droid Maxx rather than an X, but I'd do the same with an X.)

I hate cases. Bottom line.

However, they are very much needed. especially since I usually don't keep my phone longer then a year before selling it to buy another phone. When I am around my house, its not really in case (lots of carpet). I love holding the phone how it was suppose to be held. But when I leave the house, I usually case it up for protection. I use very light and very slim cases. If you are interested in getting some, let me know.

I read somewhere there was a bumper type case for this phone. Sounds intriguing. Anyone have a link or two?

I usually go case-less but am really thinking I'm going to get one this time around. I'll give the Diztronic a shot.
I do always use screen protectors, anyone using/recommend one? I got some Halo's and the cutouts aren't exactly right so am looking for something that actually fits. I'm not a fan of wet application types, just want a static-cling one.

I ordered the clear plastic AirJacket case when I ordered my Moto X. Not usually a big fan of clear or hard plastic cases but I was curious this time as it claims to be self-healing.

If I don't like it, I'll buy a Diztronic case which I've used on my GNex and been happy with.

I have almost always used a TPU case for my phones, it's slim and pocketable but still protects the phone from reasonable drops and accidents.

When I got the X I really did not want to put a case on it. I mean this is far and away the nicest feeling phone in the hand I have EVER owned and it's almost like a criminal act to put a case on it. That said ... I did in fact put a case on it. :D

Amazon.com: Hyperion Motorola Moto X Phone Matte TPU Case and Screen Protector (Compatible with Sprint Motorola Moto X Phone / XFON XT1056, and AT&T Motorola X Phone / XFON XT1058, and Verizon Wireless Moto X Phone) **Hyperion Retail Packaging** [2 Y

This case. I got a frosted clear and a black. And I like both of them. VERY nice fit. For the cost, you simply can't beat it.

Griffin Reveal looks like a bumper case.

Moto X Case | Reveal | Griffin Technology

I saw the Griffen Reveal on the Verizon site and it looks like a bumper case, but there is a clear hard plastic back to it that covers the phone back. Not sure if this is what you were looking for.
