I'm coming from iphone. This is my first android.

i came from an iphone 5 and i love the g2!! .. ive tried many androids over the years n always returned them because they were inferior to the iPhone .. but now i can honestly say the g2 is better than iPhone. FINALLY!! .. android is finally to a point where hardware way surpasses software so now i find the g2 so fluid and smooth unllike previous androids ive used

What other android did you have? Is LG G2 a significant upgrade over Galaxy S3?

I've had the SGS3 and it is indeed quite a bit better. The battery life is longer, the screen is sharper, and the camera is much better. There are obviosuly more things but I'd go for the upgrade if I were you. You could go with a SGS4 if you prefer the removable battery and micro SD slot. They are nearly identical, although the G2 is much faster.

Are they identical or is the G2 much faster?

Do you like the phone over the IPhone?

Ive been using iphone for 3 years since the iphone 4. Ive been reading and watching and taking part of flame wars for all that time.

So the answer is, im sorry to burst Apple's bubble but this phone does everything better.

The only thing the iphone does better is Siri. And im talking about having it control the phone.

For example "set a timer for 10 minutes" does that and starts a 10 minute timer on the iphone. Google now just sets an alarm, but LG VOICE app opens the timer. Doesnt start it for you but, good enough.

Truth is, most people dont use that anyway. So I am shocked people dont dump their iphones for this.

If the LG G2 had been the iphone 5s the world would be goung nuts. Talking about the button in the back revolution.

Ive used the S3 briefly and the G2 feels much more premium. Not to mention the hardware is the latest and arguably the best camera if you dont count the Lumia 41MP

Other thing i havent heard anyone talking about is the almost unbelievable noise cancellation when you record a video. I was taking a video while watching TV and it literally muted the TV and recorded my voice only.

This is a picture of it BTW

The one design thing i hope they change is the folders. Folders dont look nice. But thats only cosmetic.

After 3 days of using it the iphone screen looks TINY.

Ok. Let's see.

1) plastic. It feels good in the hand. The plastic creaks a little if you squeeze it. You know it is plastic. As far as the material it is like any Samsung phone. Doesn't matter though. I would rather have it without a case because it literally feels like you're holding a screen. That's where it stops being a Samsung phone. When you use it and turn the screen on. The case came with the box wrapped on top of the box. I was asked what phone color and case color I wanted. It just comes wrapped on top of the box itself. It has like a fiber feel to it. Quite nice actually, so I just feels the phone without it once or twice. No creaking or anything with a case. Just if you squeeze it without it.

2) Lag. None. This phone has no lag. Now, understand about lag that actually I'm lying because every phone lags. Even the iPhone. My 4s with iOS 7 lags like a mother. the reason I say it has none is because I understand that sometimes the phone is trying to get information from THE internet or is dealing with other processes and maybe once in a while You will get that thing where things hesitate or take an extra second to open. As a computer tech I can tell you this is normal. I've dealt with Windows, Macbooks, iPhone, Android, Blackbery and thus behavior is just normal.

So no. In short this phone doesn't lag. Just keep in mind this is just a phone and sometimes it is doing several things at the same time and specially when it is trying to Download information from the internet it may hesitate for half a second here and there.

Overall you will get a very fast and smooth experience. I was just now showing the phone to a girl with an iPhone 5 and her first words were about how fast it was. Especially after she installed iOS 7.

3) I used the HTC ONE briefly. I choose this one because of the bigger screen. Also because I don't trust HTC at all. Also because let's face it. Regardless of what they tell you 4MP whether they are ultra big or not it's just not enough. Blinkfeed can get annoying and can't take it out. It did feel polished to me BUT, read up on all the people having battery drain issues with it and all the people loving the battery life on the G2 and it wins for me. Battery life is one of the most important things.

4) problems with LG? No. I have to call a number and extend my warranty for 18 months. That's a good deal.

Other than the oversensitive auto brightness this phone, surprisingly has no issues. I'm a bit shocked after years of hearing about how bad Android was.

5) Camera is good. Like any phone camera it struggles when you're inside a poorly lit room with halogen lights, but the pictures look clear enough. On those situations just choose Intelligent Auto. Otherwise if you know about photography you can end,up with some amazing results in bad conditions since it has settings to adjust everything. From the ISO to the White Balance and whatnot.

Otherwise the camera works just point it at something and shoot and the pictures come out Crystal clear.

I took a few pictures with the HTC ONE under the same HALOGEN crap lighting and the results were awful.

I just took some pics all on the Intelligent Auto setting. They won't be full resolution so they won't look as good as they look on my phone but you get the idea. I didn't tap to focus either. I just let it focus and I took it.

Hmm. The update thing is what nobody knows.

This is coming from a newbie. Remember I'm really a 3 day iPhone convert.

I'm used to getting updates as soon as Apple releases them. 6.1.3 killed my battery and iOS 7 made my nice and smooth iPhone 4s laggy as hell.

So. Frankly. I just hope that LG will update this at least ONCE. I thInk that's enough. 1 good update.

The Optimus 2x was released with 2.2 and was updated to 4.0.

So. I think we should see 1 major update for this phone.

It seems LG is directly taking aim at Samsung and they may be looking to erase their reputation with updates.

But that's just my guess.

Being Android you aren't at the mercy of LG. Surely you'll be able to do it yourself in the future. But I would rather get it from LG.

I know I'm the newbie here but to be honest, this here is the best answer anyone can give you at this point. Read here:

Thanks for fielding questions ajarnfalang!

So for Quiet Mode - when its on, either by schedule or manually, I understand it silences the ringer but does it also disable all notification sounds, the vibrate and the notification LED? So if I have Quiet Mode activated 11pm-6am and a call, text, email comes in 11:30pm - will the phone also not vibrate and will the notification LED not blink all night?

This is what it says for those settings. That answers most of those except your question about the LED, but. The G2 has a toggle for LED. So you can put them next to each other and turn on quiet mode and LED off at night. And I guess the sound toggle too. So 3 taps at night and you're Done.

So let's say I set up the incoming calls and stuff for Quiet Mode, I can move them next to each other like this and tap them before bed.

One good thing about this phone is you can customize everything.

It also enters DayDream mode if you set it up. When you charge it at night it goes,to a night clock. Very dim so it doesn't disturb you but you can look at the time in a dark room. Its kind of like a screen saver. It moves around the screen.

Thank you. I pretty much figured Quiet Mode didn't disable the LED or vibrate notification.

A bit unfortunate IMO... if I'd have to hit the sound & LED toggle before bed anyway - sorta makes Quiet Mode useless to me.

I was hoping for an implementation more like Blocking Mode on the Samsung devices.

Is there a way to invert the color for settings?
Currently it is black/gray font on white background, can you change the background to black/gray and font to white?

Thanks

Not that I can see. Do you own the phone? I actually think it looks quite nice. But I don't think you can change that. I think it's just the way they want their skin to look.

There is an accessibility function that inverts colors, but it's not the traditional invert like you're thinking, where things go white on black. I mean, it does when there's text involved, but it's also going to invert every other color in the phone too, so pictures and things...well, it's under Settings>Accessibility if you want to see lol. Though, there are some apps that give you control over themes too, depending on what you're going for, so it's half-there. I'm sure in time, there may be ROMs out there, or inverted versions of more common apps that will allow for a black version. For now, that's as close as it gets for the phone itself.

Yes. You would have to install a custom launcher. Some people like dark themes. I like the white myself. Looks classier than the Samsung crap.

The pictures are great and are of. Great quality........ But did you try to take pictures while you are moving or while you shake your hands... Can you please try those and post the results.... I tried here in local store but the pictures were. Blurred as if there is no OIS on this device.... The sales guy couldn't help me much..... But in case of HTC one the pictures are nice even tough I shake my hands

Is it device fault or may be the camera is not great

I'm still unable to decide whether to get LG g2 or HTC one
