Help Weird Battery Issue

Kevinator

Newbie
Hello all,

I have had a weird battery issue going on for over a month now and was hoping you guys could help. No matter what I do, after charging my phone overnight, within minutes of unplugging it from the power source, the battery drops to around 90 percent... almost every morning. Here is what I've done so far:

* Replaced the battery
* Downloaded GSam and Advanced Task Killer to help with battery performance
* Updated the Android OS to version 4.1.2
* Wiped and reset the phone

None of these steps has cured the issue. Do you guys have any idea what's going on? Thank you in advance for your help.

So what happens over the rest of the day, do you have enough battery to make it with your normal phones use? What do you have running in your phones back ground? Does the battery charge up quickly?

The rest of the day the battery behaves normally and yes, I have enough battery power for everyday use.

As far as what is running in the background, quite a bit according to the Application Manager. They are Lookout security, Accuweather. GSam battery monitor, digital clock widget, factory mode, AT&T software update, sysscope, Samsung link, a couple of Google services, S Suggest, com.sce.phone, Media Hub, S Voice, Synchronize, Exchange services, simple alarm clock, AT&T hot spots, PageBuddyNotiSvc, Samsung keyboard.

I have not timed how long it takes to charge the battery, but I would estimate that it only takes a few hours.

So based off of whats running, you are using touchwiz and not rooted/custom roms. Correct?
Is there any funny business in the battery usage? (Settings>Battery)
Also, does your phone say that it is charged, or does it just never go above 90%?

Forgive my ignorance, but if I'm not sure what touchwiz is. I haven't messed with any customs roms to my knowledge, so I doubt I'm using them.

I have not seen anything weird going on in settings>battery.

When my phone is charged, sometimes it will say that it's charged and be 100% only to have it drop to 90% after a few minutes off the power source. Other times it will only charge to 90%.

I would just use the phone, and see if it has enough battery to get through your day.
I bought a Mophie Juice case and external battery to put my S3 into, it gives me a lot more battery and some protection for my phone.:)
