Future of Nexus 5

Can everyone agree that to add any sort of gimmick aimed at selling more nexi would be a bad thing? Save for if the good folks at Google decide to do a storage or RAM upgrade.. I think it would be worse than tragic to see this beast in colors to match your personality... :'( leave it as is I say. Like the commercial where the phone (guy) says to take most of the adornments by the user off. Colored nexus is like scotch in a sippy cup, you can do it, but takes away the adult nature of such a thing. In my humble opinion.
 
I don't see this getting anything like the motox level of customizability, but if they offered it in more color options I don't know if that would be a bad thing.


Wouldn't have changed my purchase, but I don't see why giving people more options is bad for nexus as a whole.

If anything Id be angrier if they did offer more storage or ram options a few months from now... Not likely to happen though
 
The only thing I wish that was offered as another configuration option would be a bigger battery. Everything else is almost the current top of the line spec-wise.
 
I, personally, like a black phone. If I want to add color then I find a color case. Looking around on Amazon, I've seen some really nice cases. There is a caseology that has the tpu inner and then a leather outer. The one I liked is a deep red.
 
Additional color choices wouldn't make the phone more attractive to me......64gb of storage would be a nice option to have.

This is really nice...wondering if it could wirelessly charge, probably not with TPU and leather.
 
Curious how many out there are going to use this to develop and how many are buyin just to have the latest and greatest? To each his or her own, I am simply curious. Please don't kill the cat..

I'll likely build my own Roms/kernels, but other than that just to be on the latest and greatest

Even if the statistics you seek were readily available, it's of no interest to me. I'm too busy creating and enjoying my own life. The more choices the better, it's the beauty of the free market environment.

And the beauty of America is to disagree and not be scrutinized. I am all for choice, but believe in keeping some things pure. Imagine making ferraris economical and fuel efficient, I do not feel the machine would be as revered...
 
Personally as this is such a well priced phone it would be good in different colours. It could be aimed at kids like the plastic IPhone.
A memory card slot would be good tho. I'd pay extra for that.
 
I say for Google to do whatever it takes to get the best return so they can continue offering high end phones at such a low price.

Also, everything I seem to buy is black these days (TV, PS3, STB, Sony Tab Z, Laptop...) so the N5 will fit in nice as it is!
 
This is a very nice phone and the only thing that I'd like to see is Verizon compatibility.

It depends on where you live I think. If you live in a major metro and you spend most of your time there, then AT&T and others should be good enough. If you live in an area of marginal coverage, then you might have to go with Verizon for decent coverage.

AT&T is good enough for me 99% of the time. For those rare times when it isn't good enough (say, being on vacation), I have a Verizon MiFi that I can turn on for a month. I have an old Verizon flip-phone that I can go prepaid for a month on too.

My feeling about the future of nexus 5 and indeed nexus range is that the nexus 5 tag week stick for a while, next year will be nexus 5 2014 edition etc. The speculation about the screen size was kind of right and it fits with the play store. We won't be seeing a nexus 6 unless Google decide to make a nexus phablet I don't think
 
I don't see why Google would stop at 5 when they are simply making more and more with each new phone. If the 6 continues to make more than 5 next year than why not make a 7? So on and so forth.

I didn't mean I don't think they will carry on making nexus phones, I think they definitely will, I meant, after all the speculation about what the nexus 5 would be called based on screen size etc as in the tablets, I just think next years nexus will be nexus 5.1 or nexus 5 2014 or something
